just thought of this...

We used to be able to purchase 5 Paladin and 5 Strikes (with three Psycannons), for the cost of 10 GKT with 2 Psycannons.

This was a little risk/reward.  More Psycannons shots, more attacks, more wounds.  But vulnerable to ID.

I'd take that option back in the day over 10 GKT *all the time*.

Now, with the increased cost of Strikes, and the reduce cost of GKT, this isn't viable.

I wouldn't take Paladin now *at all*.  Not with 33 point Terminators...

By allying Tigarius and a unit of troops for an AD, you may as well just bring in 5 Centurions too...

A fully decked out Paladin squad of 10 is uber expensive too.

If you really want to use Endurance effectively, I'd give it to a squad of Purifiers so that they could run Psycannons.

The biggest problem I have with the list isn't actually the paladins.  It is 10 paladins.  That is an awful point sink, especially with 2 melee specialized ICs and a support HQ as well.  That unit eclipses 1000 points.  They likely won't assault turn 1, they may assault turn 2... but even then they need to assault EVERY turn from there out and wipe out high value targets on each assault in order to be any measure of useful.

While it is nice to have something like 4 attacks (5 on the assault) on 9 paladins with hammerhand, force, FnP, Sanctuary, etc etc etc... that's a lot of your list dedicated to that tactic, a lot of warp charges (a well-timed Deny the Witch on Tiggy's biomancy power or Sanctuary, or even Gates of Infinity really hurts).

It looks awesome on paper, but 1's do happen in 40k, and that is almost a deathstar to the n'th-extreme.

Cents work better because Draigo can Gates them around for easier line of sight or hitting important targets... and they don't need to assault.  This blob needs to get off the assault, and 7th edition isn't very kind towards that end.

For what it is worth though, I'd give that blob a half a board clearance... you'd certainly have whatever objective(s) that are anywhere near by... unless I could Objective Secure it out from under you or toss a throw-away squad at you just to deny you the point.

But they're so hideous! And stupid!

I agree...

Ur comment made me think of Jeremy clarkson behind the wheel of some étrange sports car

I don't think that's a compliment tongue.png

Centurions are described as being an exoskeleton, but pre 6th ed codices described terminator armour as being an exoskeleton

Due to the powerful exoskeleton and power sources built into their armour, models in Terminator armour have the Relentless universal special rule.

But that seems to have been retconed for the centurions as every codex since 6th edition makes no mention of this.

That's why I use these for my Dreadknights. The GW ones are, indeed, stupid.

I need more info brother! What is that and where do I get some? Is the size comparable and the cost?

That is a Leviathan from Dreamforge. They come in two scales, 28mm and 15mm. The 28mm one is about the height of a Warhound. The 15mm one is, luckily, about the height of a Dreadknight. It's a little bit taller, and a bit bulkier around the shoulders, but it's similar enough that it doesn't look out of place. It fits easily onto the Dreadknight base. Here's a video of a comparison between an Imperial Knight and a Leviathan, so you can get an idea of the scale.

I get mine for about $80 AUD each off eBay.

I haven't seen the cents yet, but could the guns fit on our terms without looking ridiculous? It would also tie them into our force more. Been contemplating getting tactical weapon bits and putting them onto our strikes to tie the SM detachment into my GK more.
