Z00Z
Hello brothers, Thnx for compliments; especially from some of the vets where I spend hrs looking at your models wondering just how you did that! I spent a bit of time today on my ulrik, still not finished but I'll share some of it's W.I.P. Using the Krom platform makes for an interesting ulrik. Plus, it has the bonus of having a skull on the base which you can slice off and combine with half a bald head. Requires a little of tweaking but im fairly happy with the results thus far. The crozius in kit-bashed from 2 wolf skulls from chainsaws, carved out and etched in the middle so they slide on one of the insignias. I'm quite happy with the results t.b.h. I should be able to finish highlighting, backpack and sorting shades on the skull helm as well as oil pinning the filigrees on the cape by next week. Let me know your thoughts Still W.I.P. http://i.imgur.com/4AIwfFv.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/mB1evIW.jpg?1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296181-zoozs-wip-thread/page/2/#findComment-3825279 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Thats one scary-ass Ulrik. Amazing job! What is oil-pinning? I like the nice gradients you got with the reds on the cloak. Z00Z
Thats one scary-ass Ulrik. Amazing job! What is oil-pinning? I like the nice gradients you got with the reds on the cloak. Oil pinning is using oil washes and not our usual acrylic washes. Its perfect for any fine washing where you dont want to mess or discolour the surrounding areas. It runs like you cant believe, keeps its depth of colour and more importantly is 100% cleanable and safe on acrylics. Id recommend watching this Applications are endless! Dantay VI
Acey-pacey, sounds like something I could really use. You also mentioned Vallejo's black wash before? If its oil based I wonder if I can take it offshore with me in my lugguage? Z00Z
Ah no, vallejos black wash is acrylic. Its a nuln oil substitute that in my opinion is better because its darker, so you can water in down substantially depending on how deep you want your shadowing. Nuln oil has a tendency to go grey if watered down too much. The cloack gradients was done with the valejo wash. Its only the agrax eathshade (umber wash) from GW that I think GW is better. Z00Z
Hail Brothers! I'm happy to report my void claw unit project is complete. I'm quite happy with the result, they turned out much better than my last set of termies. Z00Z
Looks great! What are your grey colors? Thanks! took me a little while to get the right mix of greys with just a slight hint of blue that I was happy with. Last years models were too blue for my liking. I use valejo sombre grey as base coat, 1:2 sombre grey to wolf grey for armor highlighting and ghost grey as edge highlighting. Finished my converted Ulrik today, which i'm quite happy with the results. Your thoughts and comments most welcome! Pity my photographic skills are wanting. No matter what light source I use, it just loses so much detail and depth of shades. These are all phone camera shots though. http://i.imgur.com/0eJa2In.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/bMtpdX2.jpg?1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296181-zoozs-wip-thread/page/2/#findComment-3831464 Share on other sites
Z00Z
Well it's time to start the chronicle of the Solstice Advance 2014. Better sooner than later, my first vow model pre-paint, Harald Deathwolf. In keeping with my previous HQ options, I will snow base this model. The base is from dried, baked, tree bark and sealed with wood glue. I've aranged the model and carved the bark in such a manner that one of his front paws is off the ground as I plan to have snow on the lifted paw to give it a perception of movement. http://i.imgur.com/Fs9ULq2.jpg?1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296181-zoozs-wip-thread/page/2/#findComment-3842084 Share on other sites
Jochteas
That base looks so I wouldn't even want to drop it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296181-zoozs-wip-thread/page/2/#findComment-3842568 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
That base for Haralds wolf looks great and will really help him stand out from the crowd. Which reminds me, I really need to learn how to base my models. Donkalleone
Really Great Looking but i think the fur could some highlighting since it kinda seems dull (around the back). Maybe its just the light cause the rest looks awesome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296181-zoozs-wip-thread/page/2/#findComment-3868626 Share on other sites

Z00Z
Thanks guys, was lost of effort and fun :) Really Great Looking but i think the fur could some highlighting since it kinda seems dull (around the back). Maybe its just the light cause the rest looks awesome Unfortunately, I dont have a light-box or a decent camera so a lot of the shading and highlights/lowlights are lost on the photos. The colours range from a tan to dark brown, multiple passes and shades with airbrush so the transitions are subtle and blended. On the darker wolves, they actually have a silver/grey mane. Unfortunately, I dont have the equipment to show this, but i'll try take a few close-ups of the wolves themselves later to show this. Dantay VI
Nice model, I really like the weathering you have done on the speeder. What did you use to achieve it? And the multi melta ammo on top of the heavy bolter, are you using them as gun sights and flash light, for when they want to go lamping?
