Must you declare that you're using Lords of War?

In a friendly game, or competitive. Must you declare that you're using a Lord of war?

Because all the new Codex's have them in so far (and I imagine that trend will Continue), and the standard force organisation chart and detachments all have the option to take a single Lord of war, alongside fortifications. Also now that the main HQs are also being moved to LoW status, leads me to think that you dont have to declare them. Plus the main characters are essentially the same as the previous additions.

So must they be declared before a game is arranged?

I know it would be nice to be told you're opponent is using a titan or something haha, but MUST you do it?

Cheers!

I'd say it's friendly to tell the opponent, especially if it is a non standard one.

That being said, LoW got rolled into the main game in GW's silly attempt to bridge the gap between apoc, so no, you don't have to. However, friendly and healthier communication leads to better games.

I agree. And I knew I was right about this subject. But the argument arose when I said that I might use Lord kaldor draigo. He was a standard hq in the previous editions and he's actually been nerfed stat wise even though he was put into a LoW. So won't make any real difference (not like he's a titan or a super heavy)

In that case you should just find new people to play with.

A breed of asshats that can stay in the basement with that kind.

Indeed. This was a case of thinking that Lords of War always equals Super-Heavies, Primarchs, Gargaunts, etc., and for a time they were, but they don't any more. It wouldn't surprise me to see Calgar, Helbrecht, Pedro, Dante, and other Chapter Masters being moved over to that slot with the next codex. Heck, even the bare bones Chapter Master may be moved there in the next C:SM leaving the Captain as the sole soldier HQ (if they don't bring the Force Commander/Lieutenant back).

Lets keep it on-topic, please.

I have removed a couple of posts as, quite frankly, they were off-topic and unnecessary.

I also feel it necessary, given the content of those posts, to remind everyone that this is a family-friendly board.

If this strays from the path again, it may well find itself on the wrong end of a meltagun!

I agree. Would be rather nasty to just turn up with a super heavy out of the blue. But I find it more than acceptable to not tell my opponent that I'll be using a LoW character like draigo, logun, ghazal ect, simply because they are normal guys with some cool powers. Plus they used to be HQ slots anyway :-P
