Immortals and Chainswords

I noticed that Immortals can replace their bolters with chainswords for free. Is this a viable option? I love the idea of breachers and am going to have 2 x 20 men breacher squads, plus 20 Immortals, and I was wondering if the chainsword would give them something extra.

It is actually pointless.  Boarding shields prevent a model from ever claiming an additional attack from 2 CCWs, so their bolt pistol/chainsword/boarding shield might as well only be bolt pistol/boarding shield.  Better off keeping the bolter.

It would loom awesome. So rule of cool or 20 bolter shots. Hmmmm....rule of cool.

Imagine 40 breacher marines bearing down on the enemy, bolters firing, then they part and forward come the immortals, chainswords and shields, to redeem failings with death.

Screw it, whats 20 bolter shots in an Iron Hand army.

Ok will leave that. Probably Zone Mortalis specific.

Ok so, going with 10 chainswords 10 bolters. Or 10 chainswords and 10 Volkite. That would be a cool unit.

I am guessing Graviton guns will make for a good special weapon in a breacher unit. Maybe a meltagun to?

Graviton guns would be great on breachers in ZM since they cause difficult and dangerous terrain inside the 3" marker.

Meltagun, not too sure about because of armored ceramite. If you know they aren't running it then hell, have at it.

Good thing they don't have the Imperial Fists rules for the Phalanx Warders or the Stone Gauntlet RoW bonus to shield bearing units.... Man that + IH rules would make them trump nearly any equivalent unit...+1 init when getting charged, +1T so long as you have 5 shield units in base to base contact -1S to shooting? Damn...
