Anyone taken a crack at Dorn's Thunderhawk?

Acolyte of Dorn

I figure the best reason to take Dorn is the AEtos Dios. I have the Thunderhawk gunship waiting to be built but I have some questions and I think this is the only forum to get answers/opinions.

1) Lots of IF iconography or not? Dorn doesn't seem to wear much of it. This isn't an Imperial Fists vessel either. It's made for Dorn.

2) What color? I feel like gold is the way to go here but I am leery of ruining a really expensive model with the wrong color or with gaudy metallic paint.

Thanks for any opinions!

Not a lot of iconography? He's nearly always depicted having a GIANT wing-spread eagle behind his head as well as having the fist Icon upon his chest :P

For color, maybe primarily black with recesses/raised surfaces in Gold / Bright Yellow?

In greek mythos, Aetos Dios was a giant golden eagle that served as Zeus' messenger and animal companion. So, lots of Imperial Eagles on the sides, have a giant fist on the top underneath the cannon?

it is named after a giant golden eagle after all xD...doesn't help than Dorn ALSO has a giant eagle on his armor aswell as it being painted gold AND the Emperor to whom he is praetorian, is also gold clad and eagle motif'd...

Man, if you ever see that thing in person do snap some pics :O I might try to commission one myself when I'm ~50 and finally have enough cash to buy a thunderhawk, let alone get it modified and painted to such an awesome level.

As the rebellious bastard children of the Brits, I die a little inside knowing that the 'loyal to the Queen' countries get screwed on GW's pricing scheme, while we Rebs enjoy outstanding prices in comparison.

So, to level the playing field, here's what I'd suggest: First, dress up in stereotypical caricatures of your nations (Canucks could be lumberjacks, for example). Second, find out what ships bring in FW resin, and at which port. Third....

...Wait, this might be a bad idea.

I'm not sure if they all have one described explicitly or implicitly in the fluff. Khan will surely have an uber bike but other than Perturabo and Dorn I'm not sure we're likely to see another beyond the aforementioned Khan's.

I'll lead the charge

"Revs chainaxe"

Did gunna be guddd

Thanks for the videos guys. The adornments (no pun intended) on that are incredible and well beyond my skill as a sculptor.

I'm sort of leaning toward a black base with lots of gold leaf work at the moment. Still interested to hear suggestions though.

I can see the headline now

"Environmental Disaster in Sydney Harbor after several tons of plastic men dumped overboard"

As for Aetos Dios.... Well... I've been following blackadders thread closely, and stockpiled plasticard all summer.
