Daemon2027
I am looking at the mini rule books, and Thallax Cohorts and Castellax Battle-Automata are listed as optional heavy support. It also says that these can be included under certain provisions, and that I should see the Cortex Controller on page 89. Now, on oage 89, the Cortex Controller entry all it says is that units with the Programmed Behaviour rule within 12" may be used as normal, and nothing on making Thallax and Castellax heavy support options. Reyner
They are included as Iron Hands can include Mechanicum units as part of their Legion rules or Rite of War (can't remember which). There could be another reason but that's how I see it at the minute. Daemon2027
Yeah if you take the Head of the Gorgon rite of war you can take mechanicum units as elites. However I am referring to the Great Crusade list, where Thallax and Castellex can be taken as optional heavy support. The rules suggest you need a Cortex Controller, however the entry for Cortex Controller makes no mention of allowing additional heavy support. Fire Golem
If you take a cortex controller, you can take one Thallax squad (without one of their specialisations) or one Castellax squad as a heavy support choice. I know that that's true but I can't remember where it is haha. Ah! Any forge lord may take a cortex controller, if taken either a single Castellax unit or Thallax without augment upgrades may be taken as a heavy support choice. It's on the page titled 'Additional special rules for heresy era gaming' in Extermination so there might be a page called that in the LACAL book. Daemon2027
I will take a look later. It's strange as the page directed to under their entry doesn't mention it. Cactus
That page exists in Extermination because it's presenting new options for the previously published army list. As LACAL consolidates everything in one place it would be redundant. Unfortunately it seems that Forge World neglected to add the relevant rule to the cortex controller entry on page 89. Oops. Daemon2027
I thought that might be the case. I sent them an email to confirm. No reply yet, hopefully because they are packing my Gorgons. Emperors Teeth
Check the Forge Lord consul rules in the LACAL book, I think it's mentioned there; the same place where his Cortex Controller upgrade is listed. On page 17? Nope. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296442-cortex-controller/#findComment-3829663 Share on other sites
Atia
" Any Forge Lord in a Space Marine Legion Crusade army may take a Cortex Controller in addition to theit usual options for .... If at least one model so equipped is present in the army then either a single Castelax unit or a single Thallax Cohort without Augment upgrades may be taken as a Heavy Support choice for that force. Daemon2027
Yeah I was using the two mini books I got with the collectors addition. Forge World emailed me and said that they didn't include the information in those books.
