You looking to use a RoW with the Preator? If not, he's just one expensive beat stick + command Squad. You might be better off getting a Consul (likely Champion to fulfill roughly the same role).

 

Why the minimum Tac squads? With the way you've set up the list, you don't have that many bodies on the board and having 20 more for 200 points seems like a good enough deal to me, no?

 

Can't comment about the Terror Squad, really. As for the Skyhunters, why 4 instead of the minimum 3? What more is that single Jetbike bringing? Wouldn't maxing out the squad for 2 special weapons be better (though pricier $$$ and points wise)? In regards to the HQ squad, did you consider taking them all on Jetbikes instead? Having them all airborne would let you cut the Land Raider and Skyhunters from the list and put the points saved (if any) into the rest of the force.  Also, how many in the Command Squad? 3,4 or 5?

 

Since this is 2k, you look to be fine on Anti-armor, thought might do well with another source besides the Melta bombs.

 

Why one apothercary? If he's rolling with the command squad, fine, no biggie. If you do consider the Jetbike HQ, you'd be forced to take a Primus Medicae on a Jetbike to still grant them FNP. Also, Tacblobs + apothecaries are very much worth the investment.

 

 

Overall, besides the comment I've just made, I'm truly unsure as to how I/you could go about improving it...

 

 

Edit: if you go with Consuls, you can still do the Jetbike thing; just take a Champion + Primus Medicae on Jetbike and stick them to a regular Skyhunter Squad. Might come out cheaper than the Preator + CS + Landraider combo OR the Jetbike Preator + Jetbike CS + (maybe) Primus Medicae on JB.

My initial motivation was to field things I have models for or will be getting in the near future. Time to revise the shopping basket in light of this!

Well, if your buying stuff that looks cool, I see no harm in it *glances at 8 various dread models*...Though If your going to play extensively with the list, yeah, you're better off getting the things that won't make you regret their purchase; though in 30k, thats pretty rare, you just need to find the right place for the unit, ie: breachers in ZM.

 

A thing to keep in mind is always have redundancy; it would be a real shame if you putting all your eggs in the same basket and for that basket to suddenly burst into flames the moment you put the last one in. ie: Having your only form of Anti-air get alpha struck and then facing 2-3 Flyers turn 2....

 

 

And lets be honest, NL Skyhunters pretty much fits their theme whilst Land Raiders (imo) do not...at least not as much as the Jetbikes. Also, Armored Ceramite. Take that thing on any and everything that can take it. Having your sicarian get instagibbed by melta would suck when you could've prevented it.
