Nova_chron
So I just bought two of the new space wolf dread kits and was wondering how many possible load outs there are with those two kits plus the forgeworld space wolves dread Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296521-dreads-and-what-to-do-with-them/ Share on other sites
ADHD-Spacewolf
The ax/shield dread with a flamer, is the dread I use to dropod him Down right behind the enemy lines, and he at least draws fire, if not then once I had him chop two iron hand dreads inhalf then went to cleave the ironhand warlord in half It is defiantly a build worthwhile the flamer works to thin out any hordes that could charge him. Jaarl Stormfang
You don't get the flamer if you take the axe and shield. For my money, the two dreadnoughts I think are worthwhile are the axe/shield venerable in a drop pod for all the usual reasons, and the completely bare, 95 point multi-melta dread. Sub 100 points is a fantastic price for a model that is AV 12, 3 hull points and comes with a multi melta and a S10 weapon on a platform that can lock things in melee. There are all sorts of things that he is a threat or hindrance to, and he massively changes the dynamic of any attacks on your backfield units if he's present there, particularly deep strikers. Frater Cornelius
The dread with shield has a niche role in a SW list. He is very good against opponents that can not outrun him. His greatest strength is not his offensive power, but his defensive. He can eat one turn of shooting easily most of the time. So, drop him next to a Thunderfire Cannon, a Leman Russ sqaudron, artillery tanks, manned artillery (like grot gun or the eldar heavy support platforms), emplacements or heavy weapon units like broadsides. The enemy will either dedicate a lot of firepower or lose the unit, assuming his luck does not 1 shot kill him. Just make sure to drop him facing the threats with no possibility of being flanked and you are solid. It is also a very solid unit for Hammer and Anvil tactics (it being the anvil). Nova_chron
Are the bits in the box enough to equip 3 chassi? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296521-dreads-and-what-to-do-with-them/#findComment-3804990 Share on other sites
Squark
No, you can only make 2 Dreadnaughts with it. You've got some alternate bits, but you'd be missing key components if you tried to make a third dreadnaught out of it. The DCCW with the built-in stormbolter gets swapped for the Axe and the Shield. Sorry. Kasper_Hawser
You can only make one Dreadnought out of one box, as each box only comes with one pair of legs and torso. However, the parts and bling can be combined with a basic SM dreadnought to make whichever 3 variants you want, Murderfang, Bjorn, Axe Shield or normal.
