Solar_Pattern
So I'm wanting to get back into the hobby (spent a year doing other stuff but still reading BL) and I want to go into a 30k army. However I'm torn between the XIX Legion (Raven Guard) or the V Legion (White Scars) but I have 2 questions about the Raven Guard. What would be the most appropriate tactical markings to use? Either A) http://www.mywargame.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/pads.jpg Or b.) http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140413200125/warhammer40k/images/0/0f/RG_Legion_Tact_Markings.jpg Secondly I want to base my RG army about the siege on the perfect fortress and I want to use resin bases. Can anyone advise any style or make that would work. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296553-raven-guard-tactical-markings/ Share on other sites
Fire Golem
For the tactical markings I'd use b, they're more current. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296553-raven-guard-tactical-markings/#findComment-3805702 Share on other sites
Daemon2027
I liked the A, they would look very good. B would be more up to date, but if you wanted A you could say they were left over from pre primarch days and your battalion never replaced them with new ones. Tiger9gamer
I say B, if only because you can mix match squads still without having a lot of different colors in a squad. Fire Golem
To be fair, at a (much later) stage I might do some WS allies for my RG. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296553-raven-guard-tactical-markings/#findComment-3806361 Share on other sites
Daemon2027
Hehe, white scars and Raven Guard don't get along. That may be post heresy though. Komrk
That's post Heresy and I'm pretty sure it started because the White Scars left some Raven Guard to die instead of helping them out or something. Ok cool,mi know there is something in one of the deathwatch RPG about leaving them to die while fighting some enslavers(?) but wasn't sure if that was the reason for the rifts don't think it's ever really been mentioned, I think Hunt For Voldorius just says they were rivals and by the end of the book they would tell the rest of the chapters that there were both in fact good guys after all. Was a fairly awful book, although the Raven Guard gorilla tactics were described in a cool way.
