Jagdwulfe
Hail Wolf Brothers, So I'm slogging along building my new SW army and, as the rules for TWC rock, I'd like to include some. Problem is, and I mean no offense, I really don't like the models. Or, more specifically, I don't like the feel of the models in a 40k game. If I was playing fantasy I'd love them. My army is going to be bike heavy so I'd like to find a good 'counts as' idea for TWC that would fit thematically with a sort of mechanized force... I'm considering the cyber wolves from Raging heroes, but they're god awful expensive and still not quite right. I'm leaning more towards making some quads from bike parts but not sure they'd have quite enough oomph to be an adequate stand in for those giant wolves... Any better ideas? Thanks! The Rose Princes
an imperial version of Eldar War Walkers? you could just do mounted on horses. or, be really crazy, and use a bigger scale model and each one could be a single WEREWOLF! ... or quad runners, or those 3 wheeles Spyders, those are wicked fast. your imagination is your limit. Vampyrer0me0
Im thinking of converting swiftclaws into riding choppers and having them count as TWC. All the bonus stats are just because they are each that bad ass. They wouldnt have the bolters on the front so no confusion with that part. Frater Cornelius
Hm,easy, if you have a bike based army, have the TWC be Quad-Bikes. It makes sense, quads are more robust but not as fast as bikes. FenrisWolf
I agree with Immersturm. Quad bikes are the best fit for your fluff. Maybe with an axe blade or something on the front to act as a brush cutter and count as the rending? Frater Cornelius
This is very easy to accomplish as well. Glue 2 bikes together :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296569-counts-as-twc-ideas/#findComment-3806233 Share on other sites
Jagdwulfe
Thanks for all the good ideas. Think I'll go with the quads after all ;-) As FenrisWolf said, I'll probably add a brush cutter on the front, maybe scythes or something on the wheels... Token
I made/am making giant werewolves, werewolves are cool, but my skill could be improved, and hopefully is being improved. Jaarl Stormfang
I am in the same boat. I like the rules, the concept, and I actually quite like the models too, but giant wolves are just a little too far for me. I really like the idea of some sort of mechanical walker. Something like a smaller dreadnought. Doesn't have to be a two legged walker though. I saw a bloodcrusher conversion TWC that looked very good. Deff Dreads are to killa kans what dreadnoughts are to [blank]. What is blank?! Edit* I think I could use the GW thunderwolves if they were really armoured and cyber'd up. I think the problem I have with them is that they look furry and fleshy, like a hit from any reasonablly large calibur weapon would blow them apart. Anybody have any pictures of conversions to that nature? Frater Cornelius
If you are considering mechanical beasts as TWC, may I suggest the WHFB Chaos Bloodcrushers? nightwing1511
Chaos blood crusher with a tw head would look suitably imposing... :o Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296569-counts-as-twc-ideas/#findComment-3806933 Share on other sites
Leif Bearclaw
Well I agree with not liking TWC. I've come up with 2 potential solutions. First a DE beastmaster arrangement, using the Thunderwolf model without riders, green stuffing some armour on to represent storm shields, and the pack leader riding some meaty bike, either a quad conversion, or something based of a FW jetbike (they're nicely big). The second one is basically this: or, be really crazy, and use a bigger scale model and each one could be a single WEREWOLF! Using FW Skin Wolves, again, probably with some conversion work, representing full blown, Redmaw style Wulfen. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer/Warhammer_Monsters/SKIN-WOLVES.html My current thinking is the first idea for my 40k Wolves and the Wulfen for my 30k Wolves (as I want them to be 40k compatible too), which may end up being 13th Company once we get some more fluff about them (and when they vanished). SamaNagol
Space Marine quad bikes. I have seen them sold by a 3rd party company Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296569-counts-as-twc-ideas/#findComment-3807015 Share on other sites
Jagdwulfe
SamaNagol, really?? That'd be great cauz I'm lazy ;-) I looked around a bit and found a half decent one for Urban War Junkers. I'll have to look around a bit more! Leif, though quads would probably be the best match for my army thematically, my second choice was to go with giant werewolfy types and those FW figs are sweet. I'll have to ponder this... Thanks for the link. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296569-counts-as-twc-ideas/#findComment-3807029 Share on other sites
Ullr Direfang
Yea, I have a buddy of mine, modeling up some that look like mechanical werewolves. Not 100% sure if I am going to go penitent engine like, centurion like, or just robot werewolf. But I am like you in that I have a MASSIVE problem with the genetically modified super humans riding giant wolves thing. Frater Cornelius
They look nice but they are resin (something I usually dislike) and they cost you the soul of your firstborn if you are planning to get 6-8 cavalry models.
