gk1989
This past weekend I played in an apocalypse game, and I targeted my opponents transcendent Ctan with a vortex of doom, I hit and it didn't scatter. It didn't kill the Ctan on the first turn, but because the rules say the marker becomes impassable terrain we weren't sure what that meant for the Ctan. The TO ruled that the Ctan was locked in place and couldn't move until the vortex moved and nothing could assault the Ctan because the terrain it was in was impassable. Is this how it should go or should the Ctan have been shunted off the marker when it became impassable? EnterRehab
I'd say the unit is probably locked in place, as the vortex rule doesn't say anything about moving any units. Captain Coolpants
I've never thought of this! I've absolutely no idea. Maybe unless it's jump infantry, it will be stuck there for a turn? And if you roll a double 1 for scatter the next turn, it'll be stuck again? EnterRehab
Rule checked you push it out closest distance to get it out Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296599-vortex-of-doom-and-impassable-terrain/#findComment-3806661 Share on other sites
Captain Coolpants
What if the closest distance was on top of more impossible terrain? Or another unit? Will the model be whiped out? IndigoJack
I always played it as a normal blast, but flee the purposes of moving through it, you can't because it's impassable Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296599-vortex-of-doom-and-impassable-terrain/#findComment-3806713 Share on other sites

Gentlemanloser
Unless the CTan had a Jump/Skimmer exception to the Impassible Terrain rules, it could not move up/through/cross the Vortex. It would have had to stay in place. Captain Coolpants
Yeah keeping him still seems the most logical thing to do. But make such a power with the'assault' rule? Because you won't be able to assault after hitting your enemy with it! Gentlemanloser
It would be very niche. Large based unit, Vortex scatters so it still clips the large base, but leaves enough open for your squad to assault. I guess this is a case where the Devs forged the narative that anything hit by a Vortex is just removed from play. So there's no reaosn to worry about units standing in it.
