Void_Stalker
Greetings! Having painstakingly removed the head from inside my DV librarian's psychic hood I am now wracked with indecision over which helmet to stick in its place... I have narrowed down my options to these two: Beakie helmet from the DA vets sprue Knightly helm from the command squad sprue As for the corvus hammer in his left hand I've just lightly superglued that on to give a better idea of how he'll look as a whole... I plan on converting it into a force mace/club of some description. Maybe one of those horned skulls. What are your opinions on this guy? Which one should I choose?? Perhaps you're feeling particularly cruel and wish to recommend an alternative head to further muddy the waters of my clouded opinion?! Thanks guys! marvmoogy
I prefer the 'knightly' helm.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296683-indecision-dark-vengeance-librarian-conversion/#findComment-3808378 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Not typically a a fan of beakies, but I prefer it on that conversion :tu: Cheers, Jono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296683-indecision-dark-vengeance-librarian-conversion/#findComment-3808459 Share on other sites
PhillyT
I like beakies to get a little variety in my units, but on a character, I love those iron helms. Interrogator Stobz
Whichever helm you go for deff keep the Corvis Hammer, it looks cool :tu: I prefer the Beakie option btw. JeffJedi
MK6 because the pose needs the pointer head IMO. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296683-indecision-dark-vengeance-librarian-conversion/#findComment-3808593 Share on other sites
Void_Stalker
Thanks for the feedback guys! Looking at it now I know what kept me from going with the beakie straight away: the icon on the muzzle mirrors the one on his robes too closely for my liking... Also the little off-centre raised part on the top of his helmet would bash on the psychic hood, preventing him from looking left! I think I have come up with a new choice of helmet - one of the RW command heads. Going to have a play around later & will post pics. Thanks again! Edit: Thanks for comment about the hammer Stobz :) I really like how it looks too... I'm thinking I could add the iconic ram's horns to the skull, and some of those wavy lines to the hammer head... what do you think? Btw, I'm currently working my way through your fantastic DA thread - really lovin it so far :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296683-indecision-dark-vengeance-librarian-conversion/#findComment-3808713 Share on other sites
Bro Castiel
Will you be using the beaked helmets on a significant portion of your other marines? If so, it may pay to use a different helm to aid in making him stand apart. Bearing that in mind I do like the beaked helm. Good luck choosing! Void_Stalker
Thanks Cas! Definitely pointy nose here for sure. As JeffJedi said, it fits with the model's pose. I have a ratio of about 1 in 5, scattered through my army... except the RW command squad ofc - 100% beakie goodness there! ;) Importantly, in my devastator squad (where this chappy will most likely often find himself): no beakies. Ok, I think I've nailed it: Can't find my tiny drill bits atm but will model a bunch of thin wires coming out of that block on the left of the helmet (where the little antenna would be), trailing round the back and disappearing into the hood... I'm satisfied with this now I think but still appreciate c&c! And then I need to decide how to paint my librarians...... Can't decide whether to go with codex blue armour, blue robes, just a blue left shoulder pad... Anyway I don't have ANYTHING painted yet (gasp) so I'll see once I've got a couple of tac squads done. Thanks again everyone :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296683-indecision-dark-vengeance-librarian-conversion/#findComment-3808781 Share on other sites
luke6116
I like the Beaked helmet also. I just recently picked up a Dark Vengeance Librarian with the idea to do a similar conversion. So I have to ask, how did you get the head out and keep the hood looking so nice? Kastor Krieg
The knightly helmet always looks better. As it turns out, it's not wasted on a traitor witch. + GOOD + Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296683-indecision-dark-vengeance-librarian-conversion/#findComment-3808978 Share on other sites
Void_Stalker
Luke6116: I used a rotary tool (like a Dremel) with a diamond engraving bit, and a great deal of patience. Then a sharp knife to clean off the burrs. Good luck! SonofTitan117
I feel your pain on removing the head from the model as I did this for my blood angel librarian conversion a while back. I vote the beakie since it just makes the model flow better for me. casb1965
The beaky helmet looks great and fits in nicely with that vicious looking toothpick he's carrying.
