JeffTibbetts
Blood Angels are in the spotlight again with Space Hulk. You lucky dogs. I've been trolling Pinterest and Google looking for cool, dramatic paint schemes. Anyone have some work they want to show off to give me some ideas? I want to do something: Dark On the purplish side like arterial blood. Not orange. Dramatic Possibly heavily airbrushed (just to try it as something new) Maybe something that plays with contrast between matte and gloss Basically something different from what I normally do, since it's so few figures. Show me what ya got and let's share some recipes! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296708-space-hulk-paint-schemes/ Share on other sites
Durus
Kind of had to think of this. Helpful? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296708-space-hulk-paint-schemes/#findComment-3809038 Share on other sites
deathspectersgt7
Should have posted over in the Blood Angels Forum. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296708-space-hulk-paint-schemes/#findComment-3809052 Share on other sites
NovemberIX
Taking more the opportunity than being what you're looking for: http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/DSC04604_zpsbcff89ff.jpg That's the scheme my gents will more or less be in, I will admit to planning to steal design cues from the original models along with stuff out of the IA and HH books. Dam13n
I did these back in '09 when I got a set. http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y476/b17rider/LamentersTerminators01_zps686cf5fb.jpg Lamenters FTW Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296708-space-hulk-paint-schemes/#findComment-3809120 Share on other sites
JeffTibbetts
I thought about doing it in the BA forum but I figured I'd get more traction out here. Yeah, nothing is settled yet so BA successors are on the table as far as I'm concerned. I'd love to do some gore as well. I wish I could find that UHU glue. Anyone else have good ogre tips while we're at it? Brother Tyler
You can also see some hobbyists' schemes in the Halls of Honour Terminator showcase. Granted, not all of the minis are from the 2009/2014 Space Hulk games, but the schemes/paint jobs are what matter. JeffTibbetts
Good thinking! I hadn't looked at that in a while. I think I'm leaning towards doing a VERY dramatic zenithal airbrush job, with super harsh shadows. It will be super different from what I usually do and I haven't really seen any. Having put some thought into it, though, it makes some sense with how dark and brooding the environment is and it'll give me a chance to do some OSL stuff which I never do either. I'm thinking really deep purple shadows, and deep crimson in the light. May do some pin lighting as well. We'll see how well my janky airbrush feels like working. The Yak
I did these back in '09 when I got a set. http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y476/b17rider/LamentersTerminators01_zps686cf5fb.jpg Lamenters FTW I'm sold! Just makes so much sense. Now I need to research Hive Fleet Kraken Schemes.... JeffTibbetts
I wrote up a blog post with some color theory brainstorming and a mockup. I'd love your input, B & C. http://tibbsforge.com/space-hulk-thoughts/ Does this seem practical? There must be a reason nobody is really doing it. I can find a couple that are close... Psy-Crow
Cool paint schemes? Black, maybe a little white trim thrown in for good measure, with a white raven for heraldry :) sorry, couldn't resist. I just wanted to say Dam13n, DAYMN those are nice. I considered Lamenters before settling on my beloved Raven Guard but I tried to paint a yellow marine and threw my toys out the pram. Well, more against the wall very, very hard. Kinda like Sockwithatickets scheme? http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240799-crimson-tears-occasional-allies-update-070914/?p=3743642 Oooooh. That's a bit tempting. However... It works with his partly because they're so stinkin' clean. The random white patches really become the focus. On the very, very busy SH models, I'm not sure it would look nearly as cool. Might end up looking like some Eldar Harlequins when all is said and done, and that's just shameful. Dam13n
Psy-crow - Cheers. Though I can't help but see the flaws in them nowadays (the SENMM is "wrong" for example). Still, I have a new set coming... I've got my eyes on Flesh Tearers or maybe something more obscure... Hopefully I'll get the whole set painted this time. The 2nd half of the Lamenters still aren't finished to this day, the white went a little wrong and I threw my toys out of the pram (read: put them in a "WIP" box and left them there). Psy-Crow
@Dam13n Haha I have one of those. I try to convince myself that it is a WIP box but deep down I know its my box of shame :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296708-space-hulk-paint-schemes/#findComment-3810170 Share on other sites
