plastic sisters?

Recommended Posts

I've got a big bunch of miniatures ordered from that Kickstarter, and it has popped up on this particular forum many times, and I do like the models for what they are... but they're not really suitable for Sisters. Iron Empire is the only faction that could pass off as power-armored, and even then I feel they just don't fit the 40k aesthetic (or rather, that of the Sisters). That may be just my personal view of things though.

I like how the sisters models look now. Just that in plastic. I don't want sexy sisters!

They look sexy enough as it is in their current aesthetic.

...I may or may not be sexually attracted to medieval styles or armor. >.>

I don't have a problem, don't judge me.

It's not a problem, particularly if you like it more when worn by the gender you prefer. It is also why I like the SoB as well. They have unique armor that makes them stand out from other armies. The fact that they are women is just a bonus to me, as I am trying to find a way to justify an Amazon army for WHFB as well, and not having to search the world for something that is already in the 40k  game system, just means I got my Amazons in Space now.

I'm not judging you..

Its just sisters are an amazing army that will take very little effort on gws part to please the fans.

A physical codex.

Two? Or maybe three? Plastic kits.

That's it.

Seraphim box, Sisters box with special and melee weapons and other such bits to make Celestians, Battle Sisters, Dominions, Retributors... Exorcist box, Repentia box, Penitent Engine box. That'd cover basically everything except HQs and Battle Conclave, although admittedly it's 5 boxes already. But even just the Sisters box alone would do wonders, perhaps just sell jump packs and extra pistol arms separately or something to make Seraphim (that admittedly wouldn't have legs posed like jump troops normally do).

But the End Times will hit 40k before that'll happen!

Gothic style plate with a 41st millenium feminine feel to it is a very nice aesthetic, jokes aside. It's not over sexualized, it feels more like a practical armor with artistic embellishment that you see in many suits of 15th and 16th century plate armor. Ahem... sorry, went full history-major there for a moment.

Nuns with guns. I'm EXTREMELY temped to model my Sister Superior with a Power-Ruler and count it as a power maul. Not even joking.

i think the next year we can see the start of true rumors about a sisters of battle plastic range with codex ( its rumored that the codex is writed by Kelly in 2013), its a "i want to believe" argument i know, but i prefer that than think in another year of release of miniatures in 40k codex who have enought units now ( in my opinion of course).

He's a good codex writer!

I think Codex: Chaos Space Marines players will disagree with you.

How are those models in any way appropriate as Sisters of Battle?

They're pin-up Guard cheesecake for recruiting posters at best.

I'd love to have a commissar like her. I wouldn't even need to shoot her in the back when she's not looking, the first shell exploding nearby will do her in with schrapnel.

And another thing, and this its not a rumor, when Kelly was asked in the last seminar about what he like to do if he can choose, he seys he will pleased if he can make a minicampaing box like the wolf and orkz but whit sisters and eldars/bad eldar cousins with spikes instead.

In another side i like the chaos dex, its not  bad in my opinion, its not to over but have a lot of things to offer.

Only that they want to work on it, honest, but for some reason aren't. Either because opportunity (huh?), or burn out from DEldar (grr).

Either that or they want it to be a "BLAM! OUTTA NOWHERE!" moment, which, let's face it, it would be in any case!

There's probably some numbnuts somewhere telling them they can't risk the re-investment in an unproven product etc. Sisters were never the most popular must-have product, so they shy away from spending money to reinvent them, all the while missing the point that lack of mainstream popularity is due to the fact that THEY'RE ALL MADE OF FRIGGIN METAL AND ARE REALLY EXPENSIVE! AAAAARGGGGHHH!

Actually I think the lack of popuplarity was just from lack of interest. As you say, few people really played them.

As for releasing the Choas codex, they probably aren't doing it right away because they have to stay on schedule, which is approved quite in advance. Once they're done with everything they want to get hammered out, I bet they'll give it another go.

The problem is, their original release was poorly supplied to independent stockists, and was followed within three months or so by the Necrons... and, well, who grabs the attention of a younger gamer better? A pointy-boobed nun, or the Terminator?

Booby-pointed terminator nuns.

Yea, those scream IG. If I was going to do a "unrealistic sexy" army, I would use those. Not saying the rest of a sci-fi mini game is realistic, just saying that those models would be what I would use if the Strip Club world were to have a army made up.

I do agree with some others, the best way to get people interested in a line is to release it in a BIG way. Just putting out a WD/ebook codex wont draw people in. IF they were to have a hard back codex and a few new kits(plastic kits of what they have now + anything new they threw in the codex) and toys, then things would change. Why is Bretonnia a poor selling army? Or Dark Elves, Tomb Kings, Dark Eldar, and Necrons were before they got redone. Space Wolves too, there were few and Far between that played them. I knew 3 in 5 states, but when the new book came out after 10 years or what ever, they had tons of people playing them. GW has a way to change how well and army sells, they just have to actually go and do it.

The thing with plastic sisters is that it wouldn't require a vast expenditure of time/resources all at once, if they released just one box (of maybe 10 sisters with a few extras; a couple of special/heavy weapons, some sister-looking power weapons and a few fancy bits to upgrade to Celestians or even build a Canoness), it would be plenty to start with. From the feelings I've seen professed over the years by the vast majority of Imperial players, and the way allies work in 7th, I can't see many people not wanting at least a squad or two to use as allies for their primary army. I've no doubt that one box would sell pretty well.

If it did, then they'd have the option of later adding to the range for those who wanted bigger armies. Again, at this point it wouldn't require massive amounts of work, just some rejigging of sprues to add extra weapons/equipment for Retributors/Command Squads for example. Or designing and adding an extra sprue or two to the Rhino box to build a Repressor/Immolator/Exorcist.

Again, they could stop and see how it sold. Then, if their feedback showed that the army was financially successful enough to warrant it, they could look into the more specialized kits such as Conclaves, Repentia and Penitent Engines.

That way, they could grow the range slowly but wouldn't be massively out in the unlikely event the Sisters didn't sell.

They're doing a not-Sisters line too. Only concept art exists for the moment.
