irwit
Hi all So thought i would share my new desk setup after doing a bit of very simple DIY to sort all my paints. Some simple 90 degree plastic strips glued to MDF worked its way into a most glorious paint organizer that fits both vallejo bottles and GW paints upside down (stops drying out and you can actually see the colour). Anyway, heres the pics. Theres a bit more info on my blog for those interested. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0bP1F_dKONg/VBap2eIBBCI/AAAAAAAAAp4/Lh9w5_DAVaw/s1600/IMG_20140915_082706.jpghttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q9TdqLoOPDg/VBap2dZKQCI/AAAAAAAAAp0/T0tIztbsSRM/s1600/IMG_20140915_082719.jpghttp://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yOhtHdILRJE/VBap2eEHaeI/AAAAAAAAAqQ/BUqSWnOilTM/s1600/IMG_20140915_082728.jpghttp://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nijtn4lWxFA/VBap27ZKlaI/AAAAAAAAAqA/XWm5zXnDnYk/s1600/IMG_20140915_082738.jpghttp://3.bp.blogspot.com/-edK9liqjngw/VBap3CNZC9I/AAAAAAAAAqE/PN3MvniRfYU/s1600/IMG_20140915_082803.jpg thanks Will. Izekael
Why do you store your pots upside down? Never seen that done before. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296748-organising-your-paints/#findComment-3818017 Share on other sites
Brother-Librarian Haegl
Probably so as to see what colour he picks right away which, especially wit the older paints that have non-transparent white or black lids. I can also imagine upside-down storage makes it less work to shake the paints, as they have been turned when you take them from the drawer. Seems like a nice idea, as long as that the lids don't let you down... irwit
Its actually, as well as seeing the colours, to stop them drying out. The paint forms it's own air tight seal so paints last longer. MagicMan
Doesn't it make the paint fill up the top of the pot around the rim, making it hard to get out, though? irwit
Not that I have noticed. Also I will normally give the paint a good shake anyway so kind of irrelevant which way up the pot is before I open it and the paint will be spattered everywhere on the bottle already. Have to say after using this for a few weeks now its great. Obviously Ima bit of a neat freak but just being able to actually choose from my entire range on paint colours is making me a lot more adventurous when picking a pallette. irwit
Yeah that light is awesome. Being honest those my room lights are awful so they are kind of leeting the side down at the moment. I may as well not have them on while painting. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296748-organising-your-paints/#findComment-3818524 Share on other sites

Aqui
My work area has not looked that clean since the day I started painting on it. My work area was not that clean before I set it up and started painting on it! Could I ask what ultrasonic cleaner that is in the corner? I want to get a decent one soon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296748-organising-your-paints/#findComment-3819004 Share on other sites

I had a cheap battery one before. This one isn't really that expensive but runs from the mains and is big enough to fit all the parts from.my airbrush in which is what I use it for. netminder69
That's a nice idea. I use nail polish racks, meant for manicure places, mounted on the wall to store mine. Thinking of getting a table top one for my current in use paints.
