Obsessed with a "Survior" force

So I am almost done with "Damnation of Pythos" and I have become quite obssesed with painting and developing my collection into a "patchwork survior force". Where I run into a issue is I want to add IF to my survior force or Sally, IH, and RG. The problem I run into is how to have them all link up. Now I know how the Istvvan V kiddos link but how to get the IF into there. I had thought about somewhere inbetween Crimson Fist time and UE by some warp squall or something. during the black out. Any thoughts or suggestions?

You'll probably get better advice on the Horus Heresy or Black Library forums, but other than using an allied force, all you really have to do is explain how your stragglers arrived?

-stragglers, survivors of a great battle forgotten and rescued

-fire support, envoy from parent chapter to current chapter

-renegades from their own chapter, who still where the colors

Its a big universe. Even when Legions turned out in force there would be parts of said legion elsewhere, either because they were garrisoning a planet, or they couldnt reach the muster in time.

Also who is to say all the survivors of Phall ended up in the same place. Maybe one ship got kicked out the warp and met up with your IH, sallies, and RG.

It's even stated in Extermination that even when Rogal Dorn ordered the whole of the VIIth Legion to regroup at Terra, not all of them came because of : Individual Assignments, Warp Storms, Loss of Communications, etc.

You're IF force could be one of these that came upon the other survivors on their way back to Terra.

the way I am thinking is that I like the idea of this "survior" strike force that is pushed together lost in the warp and pop out almost to 40k time. (due to the fact that I play 40k and not 30k lol) But I love the dynamic of small groups of surviors hell bent on destrucion and revenge but in thier own way force to fight together. But I love fluff and background more than just rolling the dice and movuing 6 inches.

Keep the ideas coming  please!
