Neuroticus
it appears from the GW website that I cannot purchase any of the standard HQ models from a local shop or online discounted vendor. Is this accurate? I'm referring to the HQ's that are shown on the site under, Grey Knights. Going to get the Codex soon, hoping getting started won't cost a small fortune because of needing to order direct. My local store has good prices, but I need to be able to get the models. Madmaardigan
LGS often have these issues I know my guy hates it because it's screwed with his buisness in the past he actually has a shop rule now that you have to have a hardback codex or a pirated version lol if u get ur codex online straight from the source you can't use it, I guess it's his small way of rebelling but it makes me laugh Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296777-our-hqs-are-all-direct-order-only/#findComment-3810232 Share on other sites
FL5
Many GK players use the space marine librarian in terminator armor, or make their librarians/grandmasters from the terminator kit. With a few bits and a little posing, bam, HQ. Reclusiarch Darius
Why would you ever pay GW for character models? Draigo and Stern you can get on eBay or many other online shops dirt-cheap As for our generic HQ's, just mod up a GK Terminator model, or use the TDA Terminator for Marines with Knight colours and wargear. Everon
All of em except the librarian are direct order. If you order em and have em sent to a local gw store its free shipping. jeffersonian000
With exception of Draigo's Storm Shield, you can build every GK infantry unit with either the GKT box set or the PAGK box sets, including all of the existing HQs. There is no need to waste money on the fine cast, when plastic works just as well. Actually, there was no reason to drop Mordrak or Thawn, as both were super easy to build from the GKT kit. Hidicul
My guy can get the direct order stuff, he just gets less of a profit. All the ]I[ is direct order, which I put in an $80 order through him which is how I found out about it. Looks like GW is still trying to cut out out the little shops without actually telling them they cant order thier product. boreas
I love the smell of bad marketing in the morning... The upside is that you can call in your order to GW and take a long moment to rant about the new codex... SJ I think it's removal for future supplements. Stormclaw has named characters with special rules in their units that are built from parts on the sprue which are actual sprues from kits. So the chapter house ruling is definately not the issue. FinkleLord
Hi, don't know if this was answered already, but I work for a small game store and they only way we could order HQ's or anything saying "Webstore Exclusive" was directly through the GW website at a slight discount. I don't know if this is for every store but for us it is. Even talked to our GW rep. Faithwing
GW Direct/Web Exclusives have been that way for awhile now. I halfway anticipate locking FLGS out of product lines all together further down the road. There's a fair bit of dicking going on in the GW - FLGS relationship. Neuroticus
indeed they do. I found a few on the shelf locally, however, and picked up the GK Brother Captain w/ a discount coupon. I don't know, he seems awfully short for a terminator. Hope I like how he looks after assembly because that's an expensive blister of finecast air on my hobby desk. SJ I hear ya man, Thank you all for the advice about kit-bashing your own HQ's. I don't have termis just yet, just a box of power armor infantry to get me started fighting my girlfriends orks in very small games. Pity this one isn't plastic, the really love the sculpt but I may take him back.
