Lone Wolf Question...

For me a lone wolf fills two roles.

Distraction unit that can soak up some fire and an interceptor that will bog down incoming units such as MCs, infiltrators or Walkers. For this role 2 Fen Wolves a SS and TDA is a must.

The main question then is which melee weapon to take and for me I like the Thunder Hammer. Concussive brings any unit with an init down to 1, so if you don't kill it outright you have a pretty good chance you will get your attacks in on the following assault.

I think the TH route will be the way to remodel him.

The next question is, mainly because I just can't recall, but can he take a drop pod? And if so, can the two wolves tag along in it with him? I don't think so, but I just can't remember.

Thanks again.

Dex may be unclear, but the rule book is very clear. Page 80: "Only infantry models can embark upon transports [...], unless specifically stated otherwise."

Wolves are Beasts. So, you either slog the LW with wolves or deepstrike/use transport without them.

That's right.

Every time I read something and I'm like, "Hey!! I know the answer to that!!" someone has already answered the question. Most of the time, it's Val!!

I have been deep striking a TDWLW with TH / SS to some satisfaction. The ability to place (fingers crossed) a distraction of that magnitude is quite nice, and for me serves as an the ultimate way to seek a glorious death. Teleport straight into the middle of some serious :cuss and do some killing!!

It's a great problem to have on a forum. reason why the Fang is the best resource for SWs in the known world.

Hm, let me explain why you can not deep strike with Wolves. SW do not teleport. They jump out of the air locks. This is the reason they arrive turn 2 or later. It takes a while to get to the ground if you are falling from orbit.

The thing is, Fenrisian Wolves can not handle the heat when entering the atmosphere.

And that is why you have to deep strike alone :(

I would agree with this, but it simply not true. They remove a round from the bombardment cannon, step inside, then get the wolves to push the button. It's more accurate, gets them into battle faster and the reason why the wolves can't come. The reason for the slight delay is usually because the wolves start chewing the button and wires instead of hitting it with their paws.

I would suggest TDA, wolf claw, storm shield and melta bombs. Should be able to hold its own against most opponents half decently.

Solid build, albeit a bit expensive. The key here would be to give the enemy different targets to deal with so that the LW can get into combat and wreck faces.
