Loesh
I read the Talon of Horus sample this morning, and I must confess it was very good. I think I may enjoy Khayon far more then most Thousand Sons i'v read about before. This might be the first Ebook i'v ever bought. Edit: Nevermind, working fine now. tyrannosaurus
A-D-B I just want to say that you absolutely smashed this one out of the park. I'll be honest and say I haven't always been complimentary of all of your books but this one was superb. The best writers make us root for the bad guys, and that's exactly what you managed to do. Hugely enjoyed it, looking forward to more ASAP. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296823-talon-of-horus/page/6/#findComment-3842759 Share on other sites
Loesh
Also: I extremely like Telemachon. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296823-talon-of-horus/page/6/#findComment-3842891 Share on other sites
Blackout2014
Finished Talon of Horus. I thought it was pretty good. But I did get the feeling that I get when I watch origin story movies. The feeling of: Well I enjoyed it, but I kinda knew the backstory already. But I bet the next one is going to be awesome! So there's that...... Also, are Gyre and Nefertari dead?Nefertari was refered to in a future sense so I believe she is alive. Not so sure about Gyre though. Damn Horus clone! Loesh
I most likely will only be interested in this book out of the series, but it was a good read all the same. Vesper
Also: I extremely like Telemachon. So do I. I can't wait to have more about him, and the evolution of his relation to the other characters, such as his rivalry with Khayon and the bonds of brotherhood he's after. Perrin
Couldn't decide which "Talon of Horus" thread to post this in for a minute there I think I posted my thoughts about the book a few pages ago already, but I've now realised what it was about it that made me not fall completely in love with it. Thinking about it, I'm not that big a fan of the hindsight/past-tense style of storytelling. Especially when there are little hints and bits about future events that are then left unexplained. Telemachon for example, the many mentions of all the times him and Khayon try to kill each other in the future confirms that he's going to survive the events of this book and carry on as a member of the gang. It ruins the suspense a bit, we know everything is going to be alright in the end. I think it could have been done in the present tense and been much better for it, but then again I'm not an author Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296823-talon-of-horus/page/6/#findComment-3844943 Share on other sites
Loesh
Yeah that's somewhat confusing, which is a shame because there's a good discussion in both. The problem is I don't see a easy way to fit the both of them together so a merge isn't viable. SteelPaladin
While normally I would agree with you about the past-tense thing, I think it worked very well here. I got a distinct Warlord Chronicles feeling with ToH, which is pretty awesome.
