Legion Smack Talk Thread

I remember that Leman Russ fled to the Eye of Terror where all the other heretical primarchs went...and his armor was left at the foot of a Khorne altar.

Very convincing that he's a "loyalist."

You would do well to remember that your primarch is sleeping from an ouchie, his nurse being a jawa reject.

Russ's legion was used to monitor the loyalty of other Legions, by the orders of the regent of Terra. Thats an unquestionable mark of loyalty.

Considering he fought a being possessed by the 4 chaos gods nearly rivaling Horus in power?

What orders? The ones he made himself? When confronting Angron he came at behest of his own whims.

He should've been fighting the enemy than playing nursemaid.

He can't even commit to anything, he decided to fight the Lion and couldn't see the fight through and got cold clocked.

When he fought Angron he had to crawl away like the dog he is.

He failed a direct order from the Emperor to retrieve Magnus....so what was that about listening to the absolute authority?

Please show me ANY fluff, any where that states Luther rivaled Horus in power.

the Night of the Wolf was performed under his own command, and Russ was one of 2 primarchs to approach Angron over his crazy. Russ overstepped his mark here. (I would never claim he was perfect, or any less arrogant than his brothers)

Russ's temper started a fight with the Lion, and when that faded he saw the humor of the situation. The Lion's temper brought the next blow to the fight, proving he could also strike somebody who stopped fighting. (as well as punching the head off of his officers. He must have a mean punch)

If that is the lesson your taking from the Night of the Wolf, your as blind as Angron as well as loyal. The fight was to prove a lesson to Angron that feel on a primarch too damaged to see being the Nails.

Russ approached Magnus asking, through what was believed to be by the Wolves, Blood Angels, numerous marines at Nikea and the Custodes, the pawn of Magnus for peace. Even once as blind as you must be able to read clear print. When his plea for the peaceful surrender of Magnus was not met, Russ could only prepare for war.

Magnus began a peaceful resistance while letting his Legion fight back (another Primarch who cannot control his legion, must be a traitor trait) and then entered combat himself. There he met Russ in battle. He refused to follow through his commitment to a peaceful surrender, and was broken for it.

Anyone else smell Phosphex...

"I doodoodly don't!" Said captain Flanders :P

Ah it was all in good fun. The Wolves proffered a champion and the Dark Angels met with theirs (or am I a scoundrel?). It is commonplace for these two legions to have an duel where they meet so that honor may be satisfied.

Besides...if we don't have space wolves...what would we wear upon our shoulders as a cape? ;)

Who knows, but I hope it doesnt clash with your dress

And yes, everything I said was meant in good fun and the nature of this thread. I hope it came across that way.

Sorry, that would be me. Tried a new spicey dinner treat earlier and not even my Astartes-like biology can handle it.

Don't worry WLk you'll have much to boast about when I bring out the recently approved Deimos pattern vacuum cleaner STC to bear on your legion.....

HERESY!

the dirt of the Aett is scared ground, and will not tolerate the attention of the Hoover mk2!

Guess you being so two faced about the wolves just compounds the fact that you're a true Dark Angel, eh? :P

I would try to contribute but my fluff muscle/nerve/bone is currently offline due to fatigue :(

We like ribbing them because they're actually our best buds. I mean honestly, we bump into that legion more than any other and we have some friendly scuffles.

...and the fluff god cares not from whence the fluff flows...only that it flows!!!

This. Russ and the Lion's rivalry is for me the best example of sibling rivalry in the primarch lore. Really excited for A D-B's upcoming SW work because if anyone can show that beneath the grudge and rivalry is a deep well of respect and trust, it's him.

As for the 30k era I'm actually hoping something happens to Russ during the Scouring so that the Lion can come to his aid. Anyone who's protected a younger brother on the playground knows what I mean: ''I'm the only one who's allowed to beat him up'' *THUMP*

I would try and do the same, but A ). I'm terrible at fluff writing and B ). At this point in the HH series I actually think it's hard to brag about the glories of the mighty First as a legion. So far the only cool stuff we have is Corswain taking on Curze and the Lion standing resolute and dignified above the same.

Fixed that for ya!

@Saphrael: I hate to say this, but the Lion "vanishes" right before the Scouring. If the HH series (and expected Scouring series) follows the established path, the Lion returns to Caliban immediately after the siege of Terra and finds the planet held by traitorous Dark Angels (though admittedly, it is hard to tell one traitorous Dark Angel from a supposed loyal Dark Angel) and in the following battle breaks the planet in half and falls to Luthor. so as it stands, the Lion is unable to aid Russ during the Scouring.

Which he lead along with Guilliman. Point, Wolves.

@Slipstream: The Battle of Phall is a massive boost to the prestige of the Fists, as is the evacuation of Mars.

The highest achievement though? They place an amazing shine on the Palace Gates while the war wages! zing.

I mean, with our Custodes Buddies, Fabulous Blood Angel Brothers and Bright White White Scar Brothers, We in our Equally (if not more so!) Bright Yellow Plate would have made quite the bright eye sore Sight for those Traitors to behold!

That's why the palace held out so long. The traitors couldn't see the defenders for the eye-searing glare of their armour colours!

Legio XX - Currently underperforming, which is unfortunate, as strategic and tactical planning are generally excellent, and units are actually much more disciplined than most summarised reports would suggest. Yet for some unknown reason the Legio XX's officers insist on unnecessarily elaborate operations, slowing their progression and wasting ressources. These elaborate operation plans, though sound in theory, suffer greatly from the slightest of alterations of combat parameters. A fact that some of the Legio XX's officers have started to address by adding even more contingency plans, which reduces efficiency even further. The Legio XX is also extremely unwilling to communicate, making both joint operations and an exchange of doctrine very difficult.

You're just jealous because we don't want you to add our superior tactics to your codex-thingy. We cooperate when we want to, just look how well we cooperated with the Blood Angels in that one space battle. It was awesome!

What we do, we do for the Emperor, always. Can you say the same...Mr. "Imperium Secundus"? ;)
