BruvaVolks
I'm going into a 1500 point tournament as such I'm wanting to try legion. So I've written up to lists, one basic Legion the other is a Raven Guard Infiltration force. Vanilla Legion Concept HQ Librarian Mastery 3 Wargear: Artificer Armour, Refractor Field, Plasma Gun Elites Veteran Tactical Squad (10) w/ Apothecary Wargear: 2 Missile Launchers (All Types), Legion Vexilla, 5 Power Swords Contemptor Mortis Dreadnought Wargear: 2 Twin Linked Lascannons, Extra Armor Troops Legion Tactical squad (10) W/ Apothecary Wargear: Vexilla Legion Tactical Squad (10) W/ Apothecary Wargear: Vexilla Support Squad Wargear: 4 Plasma Guns Heavy Support Spartan Assault Tank The Vets Librarian (focus Biomancy) along with the support squad will hop into the Spartan Assault Tank. They'll come out and do a ton of damage while the Spartan kills virtually everything around it. Tactical Squad hold objectives and the Mortis kills vehicles and stands still for fliers Now for the other list Raven Guard 1500 point Infiltrate Army Legiones Astartes Raven Guard: All Infantry (Except Bulky or Very Bulky) Gain Infiltrate and Fleet. Bulky and Very Bulky gain Furious Assault Flesh over steel: Cannot have more vehicles than infantry units. HQVigilator Wargear: Artificer Armour, Special Ammo, Krakken/Tempest/Scorpius, Camoline, Refractor Field, Sabotage! Elites Mor Deythan Squad (5) Wargear: Melta Gun, 4 Sniper Rifles (Infiltrate) Mor Deythan Squad (5) Wargear: Missile Launcher, 4 Sniper Rifles (Infiltrate) Legion Veteran Squad (10) Missile Launcher SW, Plasma Gun, (Veteran Sgt, Lighting Claws, Plasma Pistol) (Infiltrate/Sniper) W/Apothecary Contemptor Dreadnought Mortis Twin Linked Lascannons, Troops Tactical Squad (10) W/ Apothecary Wargear: Vexilla Tactical Squad (10) W/ Apothecary Wargear: Vexilla Fast Attack Dark Fury Assault Squad (5 Man) 5 Raven Talons Basic idea is allot of infiltrators getting into their base killing their dudes all that jazz. Again the Mortis is to provide fire support. The tactical squads do the same as they did last time however they are made more for infltrating in and being a mess for the enemy to deal with. The Dark Fury will move accordingly, supporting the flanks by tieing up important units in assaults. Anyway hoping to get some feedback and maybe some new ideas. Thanks! frozenfoods
I lent my books to a friend so he could build a list, but I'm pretty sure that Librarians can't buy Mastery Level 3 anymore. I might be confusing that, but that sticks out to me there. Feel free to correct. You're gonna hear about your 10 man squads, I guarantee it, but I also don't really know how to handle that at low points games where you're also bringing a Spartan to play.In the Raven Guard, you're way overspending. By taking two five man Mor Deythan's you're spending 330 points on that loadout. If you consolidated that into one squad you could bring a third missile launcher and save 25 points overall.Building your list with the changes I made I've got you at exactly 1500, did I miss something or was there a transcribe error?|If you didn't know Legion lists are built so that you pay out the nose for min squadding. You pay a premium of points for that squad, and then the units that you add to them are significantly cheaper, enough so that upgrades to a full squad become cheaper than two bare min squads. Like a min tac squad, 160, a max is 260. You save 60 points if you take one at 20 than 2 at 10. (Obviously you still need to HAVE the two troops choices, that was just an example.) Moonstalker
Librarian Mastery 3HQ Wargear: Artificer Armour, Refractor Field, Plasma Gun Per LACAL, can no longer field ML3 librarians. Only up to ML2. I assume you mean plasma pistol and not plasma gun (because the Gun is not an option for any Centurion anywhere)? If so, drop that plasma pistol. You're playing in a tournament and plasma pistols have never been worth their points. Elites Veteran Tactical Squad (10) w/ Apothecary Wargear: 2 Missile Launchers (All Types), Legion Vexilla, 5 Power Swords Melee or ranged, pick one. Don't confuse your unit choices with mixed heavy weapons and melee upgrades. Are you staying at range to get your points worth out of those missile launchers, or are you getting into melee to hit things with swords. Also, why swords? Why not axes for some AP2 love? Contemptor Mortis DreadnoughtWargear: 2 Twin Linked Lascannons, Extra Armor Troops Legion Tactical squad (10) W/ Apothecary Wargear: Vexilla Legion Tactical Squad (10) W/ Apothecary Wargear: Vexilla If you're going to bring min size tacticals, at least put them in Rhinos for addition ObjSec scoring units and mobility. Support SquadWargear: 4 Plasma Guns Per LACAL, Support Squad sergeants now carry a flamer, which they can swap for a bolter/augury scanner or a chainsword or something else which escapes my memory at the moment, or they can be upgraded like the rest of the squad. Either way, a 5 man plasma squad is a small, fragile, and expensive thing. Spartan Assault TankHeavy Support The Vets Librarian (focus Biomancy) along with the support squad will hop into the Spartan Assault Tank. They'll come out and do a ton of damage while the Spartan kills virtually everything around it. Tactical Squad hold objectives and the Mortis kills vehicles and stands still for fliers You cannot put multiple squads inside a Spartan, it is not a superheavy transport. So this plan fails on its face. The lack of armored ceramite and flare shield also leaves the Spartan, a centerpiece in your force, much more vulnerable. Your Raven Guard list has 5 elites choices and is illegal. There is some debate over how to adapt the Battles in the Age of Darkness rules and Age of Darkness FoC to 7th edition, but if you are playing in a 40k tournament they may require that you use a Combined Arms Detachment - nevermind that using one anyway for the ObjSec bonus is more valuable than the 4th elite slot at such a low points value. Going by just what's in Massacre, you wouldn't even use the AoD FoC (and getting a 4th elites slot) until a higher points level anyway. You need to talk to the TO about what is acceptable. On a secondary note, a good rule of thumb is never bring just a single vehicle. If you do, then on turn 1 every piece of enemy anti-tank has only one target.
