Fire Dragon Crimson?

OK first off don't worry this is no xenos related post. Do any of you veterans remember the old citadel paint Fire Dragon Crimson? It was a reddy-purple colour.

 

I have a few plans for making a Charnel Guard army and feel that the red/maroon colour portrayed in Imperial Armour II (2nd ed) could be pulled of with this colour.

 

Problem is its ancient and does not appear on any equivalent lists.

 

Does anyone know of a current paint (any manufacturer) that I could use?

 

For the army think Dark Blood Angel meets Deathwing Knights with an undead ( cofin lid shields and scythes) vibe.

They never really matched that colour exactly. Red Gore was about as close as they got, and it wasn't dark or purple enough.

 

With the current Citadel range, it would probably fall somewhere between Khorne Red and Screamer Pink, you could probably mix it easily enough.

 

Vallejo Model Color Violet Red looks like a fairly close match.

Don't know if that helps, but you could have a look at either the Coat D'Arms paints line, the Formula P3 line or the Master Series Paints and see if you find something matching the colour you're looking for.

 

Regarding the Master Series Paints, you might also try Reaper's Power Palette to find a match.
