L30n1d4s
So, if you take Bjorn and the Grimnar's War Council (from Champions of Fenris) you have a net of +3 to your Seize the Initiative roll (so seizing on a roll of 3+). Now, this is not cheap points wise and I don't think it is worth it to take all of these characters just to have a 66% chance to seize from your opponent, but if you can integrate them into your army anyway, it can be quite a nasty (and game-changing) surprise to your opponent. In terms of integrating all of these models into your army, I think Bjorn with a Drop Pod can be a very potent and durable (AV13, Venerable, 5++ save) disruption force in your opponent's backfield. Ulrik the Slayer is one of the best values for his points in the entire book, I believe, especially due to his 6" PE bubble, which has so many uses, either with a gunline, a mechlist, or even an assault-based army. Njal Stormcaller excels as either a Divination focus (can't go wrong with 3 rolls on the Divination table, plus Prescience from Psychic Focus) or a Biomancy focus (if he gets Iron Arm, he becomes a S9 AP2 close combat beast)... either way PML(3) and a 3+ Deny the Witch bubble (due to Psychic Hood) is quite useful. Rune Priest can compliment with Njal, particularly with a Divination focus, and can really force-multiply another unit (even fast moving units, if he is on a bike or has jump pack). Iron Priest obviously excels when mounted on a TWC mount, providing a relatively affordable but still quite potent (5 x S9 AP1 attacks on the charge) cavalry IC to either supplement a TWC pack or even operate independently, with his Cyberwolf cohorts. Kasper_Hawser
Really cool idea. Not sure if I want to put Bjorn as alpha strike group though. I think he is still best used with a plasma cannon midfield. That being said, maybe take it further and combine with the venerable formation with other 2 dreadnoughts with Hellfrost or TL lascannon. This will give respectable dakka with a heavy flamer as backup. For the primary detachment, best use CoF, with just one more RP or WGBL and a couple of Elites, either wolf guard Termies or another iron priest. skeletoro
Yeah that's something I noticed too. The Callidus gives you a reroll too. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297063-bjorn-grimnars-war-council/#findComment-3815252 Share on other sites
L30n1d4s
Or an allied inquisitor Coteaz.... So with either Callidus or Coteaz, you have a rerollable 3+ to Seize the Initiative, which translates to about an 89% chance.... Great for getting the alpha strike on those Eldar Wave Serpents.
