Frater Cornelius
Since I am using plenty of Iron Priests in my TWC lists, a thought occured to me. A servitor costs 2 melta bombs a pop, can be taken solo and takes no FOC slot with an IP. So, why not buy 4 of them and have them camp some objective. Deploy them as close as possible to their destination or right on top of it. AFAIK Mind Lock does not prevent a unit from scoring and an enemy will have to dedicate a unit to kill them, and to be honest, will he bother given the mass TWC coming his way? They are also very easy to hide. You think it's viable? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297134-servitor-objective-campers/ Share on other sites
toonarmy
Viable for sure. I am developing an assault based force that is not a million miles away from your own plans. I have found i am going for the table every time. I am either getting through the enemy lines with ease or my numbers are being whittled and it is taking a little longer. In there later situation they would come in useful but other than that i would rather take 2 wolf claws or SS in each TWC unit. I think in Maelstrom games they would have more use though. Frater Cornelius
In my current lists I had 30 points left. I did not want to make TWC too expensive so I included 3 servitors. They can sit around in my table half and score there while TWC get the forward objectives and do the combat objectives. Sounds like a steal to me. DanPesci
How mobile are they though? With mindlock is there not a very good chance of them not being able to move turn to turn? Sure if theyre just sat on one objective, thats ok, but if needing to move between maelstrom objectives, would a 5 man skyclaw pack not be more effective, sure its more points per model and five minimum, but theyre gonna be able to get about a lot faster (albeit if yer filling up on TWC, may not have the spare fast slot). On the same thinking, whats the smallest WG on bike squad you could take? I know you used to be able to take just 3 WG in a squad, but did they change that to five? Not saying the servitors are a bad plan, just throwing in some other ideas for back field objective campers/jumpers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297134-servitor-objective-campers/#findComment-3816428 Share on other sites
Commander_Moustache
Aye I am having 1 in my list just to sit on the home objective. Sure it will be a kill point in those games, but of they dont have any barrage weapons and it is hidden, they will have huge problems in killing it. Frater Cornelius
I will limit their movement. They will just sit on any given objective and stay there. One mission relies on holding objectives and the rest depends on draw. In terms of mobility I have cavalry. They are just there to eliminate the need of running back. Rift Blade
I think the idea has merit now that I've played 2 games of 7th. Both games I've had a pack of GH in a RB sitting on an objective in my table end just keeping the objective. It would have been nice to been able to push them forward. wulfgar hammerfist
I am going to try this out in my March of the Ancients list. Would it be possible to join them with a foots logging IP to serve as ablative wounds and then split them off from him as he reaches an objective? Jochteas
If you just want one and have 30 grab a plasma Cannon on your servitor. It has pretty much "anywhere on the board" range, and basically you would have a 50/50 chance of still doing something even if he is just camping objectives.Edit: If you do you could totally fashion the "Plasma Cannon" to be like one of those epic hunting horns to fit the feel of your army. Frater Cornelius
My problem with that is that I would be forced to actually reveal that servitor and the opponent has a reason to shoot him because he could be a threat. A naked one hidden out of sight is usually completely forgotten. Besides, I would not entrust a drooling retard with a Plasma Cannon. He will fry himself with it and probably kill a few Cavalrymen while is at it :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297134-servitor-objective-campers/#findComment-3816994 Share on other sites
Jochteas
Hey now drooling retard is a very strong word. I mean your right though, his gelatinous mouth vomit would seep out of his lips, the drool frothing over the side onto the cannon would probably would cause the plasma to overheat quickly, but the explosion would be spectacular! But on a serious note two good things could be done with it, one you could try to play down the fact he has a plasma cannon for a righty and just don't use it till during one turn you absolutely need it and by virtue of your feigning ignorance to it the opponent would have forgotten, OR consider it a boon that he this lowly servitor who drools so much on his plasma weapon the Iron priest probably had to install a little suction hose in his gums to suck out all the drivel, would divert the attention of your enemy. With your Enemy having MULTIPLE cavalcades crashing into his rank he won't have a lot of extra units to divert onto your guy, and the one unit that does is a unit that didn't fire at yours. Buuuut if you do keep him your basic bitch you should totally kit out his servo arm with a shovel and give him a basket for picking up all the wayward horse dung when they are not engaged Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297134-servitor-objective-campers/#findComment-3816999 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
Hey now! It's biological matter. It decays and serves as nutriens for the soil (amongst the corpses). But that shovel idea is hilarious :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297134-servitor-objective-campers/#findComment-3817008 Share on other sites
