Skyclaws, how to use them?

Hey everyone!

I have been feeling this urge to field skyclaws in my army, and im torn about how to kit them out and use them, staring at the parts hehe.

Been contemplating running them as 2 units of 5 with 2 plasmaguns for objective camping or 1 unit of 10 with a WP support (not sure about gear on this group)

Im running 3 pods with GH and terminators, thunder wolves and a lord on mount so far, so after the sky claws join the list i will still have roughly 200-250 points to spend on my 1850 list, these points im still unsure of.

Thank you for any answers :)

I would probably kit them out with flamers to be honest, it negates their BS3, is decent for an assault unit (as with plasma you cant shoot and assualt), and is a deterrent from people charging you if you are objective camping.

Back in 5th i used to run mine with a wolf priest and give them melta guns, then send them elite/tank hunting, but i think this would work out at pretty pricey, saying that, it could still be fairly effective if you have a lot of alpha strike and thunderwolves coming in to take pressure off them.

How many FA slots do you have left? If 2 I would suggest running 2 minimal units of 5 with a Flamer. They are amazing to push random things of an objective, like the odd Land Speeder, Scouts, Cultists, Eldar Jet Bikes and all that jazz. If you have 1 FA slot left I would still give them the same role, but probably flesh them out a bit.

I play a pack of 8 Skyclaws with just two flamers. Just 130 points and they are a very reasonable (and, most of all, cool-looking) and underestimated support unit. Those two flamers, if protected properly, can survive longer than the rest of the pack and they remain dangerous. Also, those 8 models punch well above their weight - a salvo of bolt pistols and flamers followed by, sometimes, HoW and then 30 attacks total. And they are just wonderfully cheap which needs to be stressed out again. When you field Skyclaws, keep them cheap. It's one of their greatest pros.

Thanks DanPesci, Immerstrum and Vlk.

I love the models and fluff behind them so im going to try them for my next game, unfortunatly i only have one slot left since i have bought a pod for my terminators.

The termintors don't need the droppod anymore, right?  They have deep strike now on their own?  Or am I wrong about that?

No they dont. Plus beacons are available on preceding turns to make their ds more reliable. Theres also some formations that allow turn 1 ds like void claws.
