Brothers, I need your help. May I bring this post of mine to your attention and ask for an answer, if you feel confident about the situation?

I feel like the rules section is not very frequented and I want to get this right the next time.

few bits and bobs going on for me currently
- got some 3d printed blood angel jump intercessor torsos commissioned, hoping to get those arrive soon (along with some torsos in running poses with BT style/sternguard style tabards and some terminator legs with tabards). Going to use those to make some more sergeant type models and some vanguard. plus my third terminator squad.

- been building a death company dread, again some 3d printed bits involved (this time from archies forge), going for a wild abandon type charging pose, will post pictures once it's fully built, but happy so far!

- starting building a second scout squad

- started building on foot death company

- have a set of grey hunters and a set of blood claws coming to use as extra bodies to mix into various existing squads.

It was at first, but now there's little noticeable difference between the Chapter's Firstborn and Primaris.

I may be wrong, and there's probably a more in depth answer out there, but that's my initial thoughts from what I've seen.

At first there were no reports of Primaris succumbing to the Black Rage and there was in-lore speculation that they might be immune. However we now have Primaris Death Company. There has been no in-universe explanation for why this suddenly appeared IIRC. Obviously in modelling terms GW has been porting popular units to Primaris so this is not surprising.

the common theory is:

- primaris blood angels made by cawl haven’t succumbed, they didn’t prior to returning to blood angels and successors after the devastation of baal at all.

- primaris blood angels made with the normal step of sanguinius’ blood from priests succumb.

almost like the genetic memories are in the blood harvested from Sanguinius after his death.

I managed to beat up a DA army with a very thematic BA list this weekend, making my first codex game and also first codex win.

I ran basically all of our named characters with maximum sized squads attached, a max unit of JPAI with a Chaplain attached, and then also included a unit of 6 bolstorm aggressors with the Biologis attached, with the 6" scouts enhancement in AI. Rounding out the list, two 3 man Bladrguard units to use as home base holders. I basically didn't use any of the strats and just hammered in with rerolls and fall back and charge.

Forgot The Lion has fights first but thankfully the rolls weren't too bad, my Chaplain squad got murdered down to four guys, then they wet noodled back a few wounds. Then on the next turn, Opponent chose their combats poorly, I intervened with the chaplain unit before the Lion got to go and managed to lift him with the Crozius bonk.  Felt great, as I thought I lost the game when I charged him initially and lost more than half the unit in a single combat.  Most annoyingly I could've completely sidestepped the Lion and then got into combat range during pile in/consolidation, but just completely spaced on the appropriate game actions.

Mephiston is a menace to anything wearing power armor. Shredded a 5 man hellblasters and a 5 man devastator squad over two turns without ever being out of combat range; gotta love consolidations.

Dantes big brick killed three death wing knights in a single turn as well. They are gnarly as an opponent but the might of the wings won the day. We played the asymmetrical mission involving stealing power, which was very fun compared to normal.

I'll probably be putting them back on the shelf now that DG has taken some lumps and I no longer feel like I'm overbearing with that faction, but I did enjoy the damage the SM were able to pump out.  Everything died like paper though, And I do not like that feeling when playing outside of IG, so until they figure out the right balance wrt to Power Armor in that direction, I'll probably keep using the BA as more of a fun army as opposed to my main army, which is a bummer as it's easily my most converted army and I do love the BA. Just not a huge fan of how the SM operate in 10th edition.
