OK, so, the plan was to continue painting the bike squad, but I ended up starting this instead:

Old school cool!

Speaking of which, and back on the topic of bikes, I think the Space Marine Bike kit is showing it's age and is in need of an update...

It's called the Ravenwing Bikers kit ;) or the Dark Vengeance bikers.

But yes, the little squat Marines on them are ancient.

I also remember when each bike was a fiver :(

Ravenwing kit is pretty cool, but it's the core design I think needs looking at... It's quite reminiscent of 80s/90s Judge Dredd Lawmaster and that classic bike has seen an update in more recent comics and the Karl Urban movie. The FW Outriders go some way but I think the plastic kit would benefit from a new design.

Aye it is very old school... I think the outrider design looks advanced, and it should probably stay in 30k as a sort of advanced lost technology thing.

I'd almost say go for a crazy trike design that has the rider situated near the front, so that they could fight in combat easier. Think like a wheeled Centaur?

I'm spitballing.

I think the Astartes would really benefit from something like the Halo Warthog.

Possibly either an open topped cheap vehicle with 12/10/10 armor and a turret mounted heavy weapon, or something that workes like an Attack Bike, but T5 W2 2+, can be taken in a squadron of up to three.

Well.. This conversation did inspire me to come up with this: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317002-space-marine-attack-quad/ and start thinking of ways to kitbash it.

Like this?

Can someone put my mind at rest, did attack bikes used to be 2+ back on 3rd? I swear they did for some reason...

They did.

I KNEW IT!!!!!!

If they were still 2+ that'd be baller.

Only one wound though...

Having finished painting my girlfriend's La Calavera Catrina clay statue (which I promised I would do before any more hobby stuff), I finally got back on to the Blood Angels!

Nothing major, just finishing decals on the Sicaran and Deredeo, and gloss coating the areas I want decals on the Stormraven (because I forgot to do it when I did the other vehicles).

Oh and progress on Dante...

Fought yesterday a Battle in our Campaign. 3000 Points BA with Withe Skar allies against 1500 CSM and 1500 Necrons.

I attacked the home planet of the necrons and they started with 6% more troops.

Also all infantry could also jump 12 but had to take dangerous terrain tests.

It was a close fight. We played Malstrom Mission six and it ended in a tie in round 7. If the last wraith would have died i would have take the win away.

Afterwards my opponents claim me the win cause he played the wraiths half the game with WS 5  by mistake.

So i would have made eventualy much more wounds with my sanguard.

He was sorry and let me claim a free spot on his homeplanet.

Although my Sangpriest Tiberius was badly injured in this battle. He lost 1WS BS and one wound.

Pictures from the Battle now

in my Photobucket.

Can you provide a tutorial on how you did that gold?  I will be doing my Sang. Guard soon and would appreciate your idea.

Edited by Lucumon

@ Lucumon, sure, it's really easy:

- Basecoated Forge World Castellax Bronze (just like the old Tin Bitz!)

- Nuln Oil wash

- Drybrush with Rub n' Buff Gold Leaf (this stuff is absolutely awesome - I can't recommend it enough! It's not water based though so you need to wash brushes with turpentine or alcohol-based brush cleaner)

- Seraphim Sepia wash

Quick, simple, very effective. I will probably give it another light drybrush with the Rub n' Buff and add some silver edge highlights...

I'm a big fan of the Liquid Gold paint series from Vallejo. Again, it isn't water-based so you'll need some turps. I'll be doing my Sanguinary Guard pretty much as shown in this video:

Armour painting starts at 4:46. This is one of the rare times he doesn't use an airbrush for just about everything.

I have that Vallejo paint but I must say I prefer Rub n Buff. It's not actually a paint, it's a kind of smooth paste but it goes on so quick and easily, you only need one coat and can do a whole marine in about one minute.

The metallic flecks do get everywhere though, hence the need to do all the gold and seal before any other colours.
