Rune Priest Jbickb
Hey guys, I have my first game ever against a bane blade on Saturday. Any thought on units or tactics to bring it down? Donkalleone
I think 3 2xMultiMelta Landspeeder Squadron should make it. Or a WG CombiMelta Suicide Squad.Or RP (Prescience) with 5 LasCan Longfangs for Reroll to hit and maybe ignore cover. These are the first three Things in my mind. Frater Cornelius
Those suicide drop pods are better than speeders because speeder break when you look at them funny. Another options would be TWC (shockingly) because of their Rending and S10 fists. IP works nicely too. Due to the size of the BB you are getting a guaranteed charge T2. Given how many points one costs, he won't have quite the field presence to deny you that. Rune Priest Jbickb
So this was the list I was looking at. Sadly I do not yet have a suicide pod squad as I need to score some combimelta still, and my speeders are as modeled I have some spare points and nothing is set in stone, how'd I do? 2500 points HQ 145 Ulric the slayer 145 Troops 848 10 greyhunters 2 meltaguns ccw all wgpl combimelta power sword pod 248 10 greyhunters 2 meltaguns ccw all 180 Stormwolf multimelta 235 10 greyhunters all ccw banner 185 Fast attack 140 Land speeder multimelta heavy flamer 70 Land speeder multimelta heavy flamer 70 Elite 310 Murderfang pod 170 Dreadnaught multimelta heavy flamer drop pod 140 Heavy support 380 Land raider redeemer multimelta 250 Vindicator 130 Detachment Arjac's shield brothers 605 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297210-taking-down-the-iron-beast/#findComment-3817970 Share on other sites
spjaco
Bum rush it right out the gate. Once you kill it what is left of his army should fall pretty easy as most of his points went to the BB as was said before. "Find em, fix em, and pile on!" JCarter
I took one down last night; had two Stormfangs, reducing his armor to 12 vs the Helfrosts and also using twin linked multimeltas and twin linked las cannon. Piece of cake. After that I went after his Leman Russes. DanPesci
With the stormwolfs twin MM (which you should be able to bring both to bear as its a big ol tank - as long as it comes on turn 2), 2 speeders with MM, and as long as you can get arjacs squad to get a charge off on it second turn...cant see it causing you too many issues. Id be tempted to drop both dreadnoughts turn 1, saving your melta squad in the pod for turn two. That way from turn one you have a land raider, and two dreads, and two landspeeders on the table..so its gonna mess with his target priority. EDIT - Ah wait, youll hve two LR as arjacs fomration automatically comes with one?? Ace. So you have ulric and GH in the redeemer?? I do like the idea of the redeemer, although never seem to get its flamestorm cannons off...the one time i did, it was awesome, fried a whole squad of marines in one shot. Rune Priest Jbickb
Yes the greyhunters go in the land raider with Ulric though I am considering swapping them for tda with combimelta and maybe a couple chain fists, and then swapping the redeemer for a Stormfang. Not sure which would be more effective against a guaranteed mech heavy guard list. Rune Priest Jbickb
Do I played 2 games with the above list. The first was against the bane blade armored company list that I was expecting, and that wasn't too brutal. The bane blade took 4 tanks down with it when i blew it up turn 3 and he forfeited because most of his army was destroyed at that point. My second game didn't go as well. My list teamed up with the guard list for a 5k point game against eldar. Unfortunately they needed to fill points, so they allied in an imperial knight formation with their eldar. That list hit hard and man can those knights tank wounds, plus the 12 inch move is brutal. We got slaughtered by the top of turn 4. It was harsh. Things I learned. One super heavy is not too bad, 3 is scary. Wraith knights are just plain crazy. Eldar have some wierd stuff Murderfang is a good distraction Stormwolf is s great ant flyer and anti tank unit Might start taking storm wolves in fast attack slots so that the unit can deploy and get work done before the flyer arrives Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297210-taking-down-the-iron-beast/#findComment-3819750 Share on other sites
