THE PORTCULLIS
Don't count on GK being in 8th. We will probably just be a Space Marine doctrine the rate this is going. Strike Squads being so bad makes me sad. Paladins being so expensive has me mortified. I've played 7th GK now about 8 times and everyones getting steamrolled - this is boring. Boring because I feel compelled to play our monobuild over and over. Boring as the rest of the codex under achieves. Bored about the greyness of grey knights. Ps I shouldn't have to ally to make a standalone codex interesting. Quixus
Now, with a reduction of 7 points *and* the return of the Justicar Tax (and the utter nerfing of Psycannons...) there is just little reason to take Strikes now. They are a sub par choice. What nerf are you talking about? In the previous codex they were S 7 AP 4 Assault 2 or Heavy 4, Rending. Now they are S 7 AP 4 Salvo 2/4 rending. Isn't that the same thing? No wait, it is even better because there is no ambiguity when rending applies. Quixus
So you mean there is only a difference for non-relentless units? For the strike squads psycannons are indeed worse than before (half range, no charge). Am I missing anything else? Gentlemanloser
I was talking about strikes. Maybe I should have said the utter nerfing of Psycannons for Strike Squads. Purifying Tempest
So you mean there is only a difference for non-relentless units? For the strike squads psycannons are indeed worse than before (half range, no charge). Am I missing anything else? Psycannons got burnt to the ground in 7th... They are worthless on practically any power armored model because of the salvo rules: half range, half shots, no assault. Because well... not moving isn't really an option with a 24" gun in a setting that really discourages static gun-lines. Not that grey knights could do a gun line anyways. Also means no more put 4 in purifier squads, combat squad them off, and mass up psycannon fire against your opponent. Basically, making it salvo pretty much says: you will only take this on a terminator+ model. I don't know about you... but paying 50ish points for a normal acting psycannon is a bit of a ripoff. Reclusiarch Darius
As you say, only take them on TDA. However, what makes that even sadder is when you do the cost comparison of a DK with heavy psycannon (3/6 Salvo) versus a Termie combat squad with psycannon. DK is cheaper, has almost as many wounds, same 2+ armour, can give himself a 4+ invul, can take a teleporter, has T6, S10 AP2 melee at Initative... So, on your mandatory Troops choice for NSF, take a psycannon on those Termies.
