Tigrus Bolters

Has anyone here bought the Tigrus-pattern bolter set from Forgeworld? How was the thickness of the combat blades included in the kit? It's been my experience thus far that anything blade-shaped from a FW upgrade kit is cast so thin as to be nearly unusable.

Is that the case with the blades in the Tigrus set?

I've had issues with FW swords/power swords/gladii etc. 40k Marine upgrade kits, 30k Marine upgrade kits, Guard upgrade kits - I've had bendy or just outright badly cast swords in them all.

I've also had 4 sets of bolters with the bayonet your talking about in them (not all Tigrus, but the blade is the same) and none of them have had any problems.

Thanks, guys.

Normally, I use the sheathed blades from Catachans for my Marines, I just slice the canteen off and fix the area. I was looking for alternatives to that, but I don't have faith that the knives in the Tigrus Bolter set will be thick enough to be usable. There are a bunch of parts in the Mk4 Power Weapons upgrade set that I'll be selling on to more skilled or less discerning modelers when I'm done with it. So many floppy swords!

Have you tried dipping them in boiling water? I've never had one that didn't straighten and stay that way.

I've not bothered. The issue I'm having is that the swords literally bend when you touch them. Grab a power sword from any GW plastic kit, place the tip against your finger, and press gently. It won't move. Do the same with a sword from a FW kit, and it will flex and bow without a problem. They look like sheet metal prop swords from a B-movie set!

Yeah it's the same reason I don't buy the vox backpacks with antennas even though I really want some. I don't want the thin antenna to bend or snap. Already saw a photo where someone had to replace it with a paper clip.

But to be fair, even plastic swords like GK Nemesis force swords or around that thickness will start bending if you apply anything more than the barest gentle pressure. Like poke it normally and it'll flex. But plastic is way more durable and flexible than resin.
