recon0321
Ok we all know what happened at nikaea...but my question is when did the imperium fully embrace the idea of pyskers? And allowing for space marines to practice as librarians again? I also understand some marines during the heresy still practiced warp craft... Fire Golem
I'm guessing when the Codex Astartes was published by Guilleman. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297221-nikaea/#findComment-3818121 Share on other sites
Tymell
Not sure when librarians "officially" came back into the fold, but below are some points I've gathered: Dark Angels - Librarians brought back in mid-way through Thramas Crusade by Lion El'Jonson to assist in combating daemonic attacks Ultramarines - Librarians brought back early by the Shadow Crusade by Roboute Guilliman for much the same reason as above Blood Angels - Can't actually remember if Sanguinius condoned them within Fear to Tread, but I'd imagine that at the very least by the end of Signus they were using them again White Scars - Most of them were isolated around Chondax when Nikea occurred and they were unaware of the result. Jaghatai makes it clear that he had no intention of ordering them to stop using their powers anyway, regardless of the result Imperial Fists - Rogal Dorn ordered all psykers among his legion locked up on the Phalanx following Nikea. However, I get the impression he feels bad about it, doing it from his sense of duty rather than actual distrust of psykers. Raven Guard - I seem to recall Corax didn't like psykers himself, so I'd guess they didn't make use of them again until after the Heresy, possibly after Corax's departure. Salamanders - Don't remember any mentions of Vulkan/the legion's attitude towards them, so no idea here Iron Hands - Same as the Salamanders, but given some of the lengths the shattered Iron Hands legion went to, I wouldn't be surprised if at least some made use of psychic powers again during the Heresy. Space Wolves - The Space Hypocrites just carried on as before :pAs to the traitor legions, I'd imagine any that had no problem with psykers would just use them again following the outbreak of the Heresy, and the only ones I can remember off the top of my head that did have such a problem were the Death Guard (since Mortarion hated them) and the World Eaters (though they did maintain a small cadre for helping to control Angron). recon0321
I can't believe dorn would just lock them up! I mean he could made them take vows and put them back in the order of battle...seems like a waste for them to just sit around. MasterofMankind
To be honest, they're pretty happy to be locked up. I'm guessing he's using them as a last resort Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297221-nikaea/#findComment-3818165 Share on other sites

Zeratil
I imagine that after the loyalist Primarchs got back together after Terra it was just sort of dropped, considering that many of the primarchs stopped obeying the edict on their own initiatives at various points in the heresy. Or possibly Malcador or the Emperor will rescind it officially in the course of the novels nearer Terra. Excessus
The librarius is up and running again at the siege at least, because the loyalist librarians are the ones defending the Eternity Gate against the Thousand Sons in the story... Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
I am not sure where fluff of Corax disliking psykers comes from, in Deliverance Lost he commands one use his gift in the Emperor's maze. Shrieker
In Ravenlord (2 years after Istvaan V) the RG uses 'reinstated librarians' to screen the loyalists flocking to their cause, so the use is not just condoned by Corax (who uses his power on the sly himself), but officially endorsed by the XIX at that time. Vulkan Lives features a RG librarian using his powers, though more of his own accord and only endorsed by his fellow istvaan survivors , who are disconnected from their chains of command. The book hints at him having been initially almost killed for it by the scattered legions. Before Istvaan the RG were strict adherent to the decree, the RG librarian in The Damnation of Pythos still abides to the decree strictly and leaves all psy activity to the sanctioned astropath. So in much the same way as the ultramarines, the ravenguard made a strategic call on the decree shortly after the onset of the heresy. Which makes sense as Corax is a practical, the end justifies the means kinda guy. Memento Of Prospero
I am pretty sure Ferrus Manus dislikes warpcraft. In the short story where the eldar try to warning him, his attitude towards it is very hostile. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
yea, Ferrus Manus isnt really a good judge of anything so far in the series. Best Friend? Turns traitor and punks him Sound attack strategy? Drop Pod Assault with no attempt at tactics and go for the head (of the WARMASTER, the guy who practically lived and breathed that strategy) outnumbered, outgunned, betrayed and surrounded? ATTACK and die pointlessly! WLK Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297221-nikaea/#findComment-3820562 Share on other sites
