demon rule question

Hear da Lamentation

Recommended Posts

OK, my Wolves are going to be facing the scum that is Chaos Space Marines - and there will no doubt be summoning schenanigans going on (because they are too pathetic to face me man to man ... er wolf ... er manwolf)  ANYWAY ...

Rule question.

Daemons being summoned I assume DO have instability (as per demon codex).

What about Daemons in the form of Daemon princes or Obliterators?

(I read somewhere they no longer do - but there was no reference as to where this rule came from).

Help a Brother out with the Great Enemy will you?  :)

Instability only applies to unit from the Daemons codex. There is a difference between the 'Daemon' rule, which gives a 5++, and the 'Daemonic Instability' rule, which auto-passes fear, pinning and morale but is subject to instability tests. Oblits can fan fair morale checks and either be run down or flee, just like regular dudes.

Nah, if the dude summons a unit from the daemon codex, it has all the rules that would normally apply to that unit. All the daemons you can summon have the special rule "daemonic instability". There are units in the daemons codex that don't have the rule, such as soul grinders, or other mechanized units, however they still have the daemon rule.

Everything summoned does have instability though, as it is in their special rules.

Okay, I'll make an exception:

When you lose combat, you make a morale test. If you fail, you stay in combat but lose models depending on by how much you failed the morale test. No saves allowed.

Exceptions are:

On a double 6 the entire unit will be removed. No saves allowed.

On a double 1 the unit will be restored the strength it had at the beginning of this fight sub-phase. (or was it restored to full? Can't remember)

But, I think the Daemons sub-forum and the Daemons Codex will help you more on that matter than a few barbarians.

And in the end, you guys have rule books and many of you have the respective codecies or enough ways to aquire digital copies for free for rule references (disclaimer: I only advocate this method when it comes on learning rules, if you plan on using it borrow one from the store or buy it please). There is also google.

Do not get in the habit of asking people all the time. You will do yourself a favour if you learn it by yourself ;)
