Fluff Question: Psychic Construct powered by a Spirit

At the time of writing I am converting my new Dreadknight into something more... wolfy. Initially I wanted to make it an armoured beast, but the disproportionate limbs and the high amount tech makes it virtually impossible without buying another model and splice it, which would become too expensive.

But then I had another idea. I will build a Dreadknight as an actual mech construct, that has been prepared by Iron Priests. But since my Wolves are not very fond of artificial stuff, what if a construct was created by both Iron Priests and Druid, a mix between natural elements like Wood and mechanical (but still natural elements) like Iron.

Then an elder Druid would 'breathe' life into it by summoning something like a spirit, possibly an ancestral Spirit, a fallen brother with the will to fight.

It would fit the Spirit thematic of the Wild Hunt and the idea of a 40k version of Valhalla.

I mean it would be more credible by 40k standards than a giant beast wearing Dreadknight armour and firing guns at BS4, right? Could be something like the Spirit of the Hunt, a reference to Cernunnos.

What do you think of that?

It could be fashioned from trees tens of thousands years old, so they are hard as steel. Also you could have like a preserved piece of an ancient hero (my idea is a heart in ember but w/e just saying) and once placed insider the "shrine to the fallen hero" it can come alive when called by a powerful druid/priest/w/e and the tomb/shrine for the ancient hero awakens and heeds the call of those in need.

Or just embrace the Cernunnos idea fully.  Give it antlered horns and kind of make it like a tree man from WHFB. In fact, if you weren't already part way along, I would have suggested that as a starting base and add a few Dreakknight bits. Durthu looks interesting.  Maybe give him a little pruning...

When you say Dread Knight, I am assuming you mean Dreadnought, like Bjorn is a dreadnought and the Grey Knights have the much bigger dread knights?

I do not know anything about Cernunnos.

Hmmm, another natural element besides wood is stone..... You have Rune stones all over Europe right? Maybe the main body was carved from rock, decorated with wood used iron from the ground for mech a dead brother being its spirit guide. I guess a bit like a golem. The runic inscriptions could be what keeps him in the dreadnought plus you could go to town on runic decorations, do stone effects.... If you have the new dradnought kits, make the decoration as wood carvings?

For practical purposes you could use dreadnought components, but chip and gouge the plastcs to make it look chiselled, maybe add some moss like it is ancient and immovable? The skull and antlers could still be used as they were the head dress of the dead broher, so a totem to tie his spirit to the construct

After all dreads are not fast moving, but they are rock hard!

Anyway, just a thought

No, I am talking about a DreadKNIGHT. The Grey Knight dude. He is part of my current list now. And the Druids are Grey Knights. They are just made very wolfy to fit into the theme. Do you think I would include anything in the list than couldn't move at least 12" in the movement or psychic phase? :D For reference, here is the list.

1850 points.

The Druid conversions are well on the way. Basically WG TDA made shinier :D

By the way, the Rune Stone thing gives me a very nice idea for the conversion.

Ah okay, I must have missed something. I didn't realise that the druids were the Grey Knights.

Cool concept that you have for the Dread Knight.. Are you going to use something to cover up the area where the body and harness are for the rider?

This is as far as I got today. I need to let the Green Stuff dry before I can start working on the exterior. Right now it is just a mix between a bare bones NDK (without any armour plates or any extras, just the skeleton) and a bit of Dreadnought action. Arm are just temporarily attached because I wanted to check something.

Why not just go pure dreadnaught construct where you have a Space Wolf Marine who was combat ineffective after a battle but still willing to serve the imperium?

I was kicking around an idea like this for the past few weeks, making an IP TWM and TWC unit of pure constructs no riders, rather marines that has been placed in a constructs body that looks like a large DreadWolf. I would fashion appropriate looking shielding and weapon systems for an outfitted SS/WC - TWC unit. Been difficult to find a base model though as I would want it a bit larger that a TW mount. been scouring for wolf cyber toys, not much out there.

This is actually one of the hardest ones I have ever done. Given its scale, limb positioning becomes very relevant. And the armour plates and othet details will be bigger and as such need more detail.

Russ knows how I am going to finish that bloody Knight D:
