Galron
This is self motivated since I just acquired ten guys I don't really have a need for. I was thinking of making them a seeker squad. So before I go about modeling and painting them I would like them to have a use. That said, what are Seeker squads for? At first glance they appear to be Sternguard light. They have a variety of ammo types but nothing at first glance that seems "gotta use that round, its the bomb." In my opinion, and note its based on facing almost exclusively other marine 40k armies, the rounds don't seem that useful. I play Night Lords so I don't get the cool AP3 rounds of Alpha Legion and the Sons of Horus. So how do you guys use them and equip them? UnkyHamHam
Been trying to figure these guys out as well. 2 years and I'm still struggling to make use of them. So with that, here is what i've learned. They are not Sternguard, sadly. Their special issue ammo just does not stack up compared to Sternguard's special ammo. Its fun, and can be interesting, but almost never useful in the 30k setting. However the BS 5, and Preferred Enemy makes them great comb-plas platforms. I basically use them to hunt down tooled up Terminator/Primarch units or Mechanicum monsters. I almost always take a full unit of these guys. I have only played using EC and AL tactics so I tend to infiltrate them or deep strike with the Void walker warlord trait. With EC, Fulgrim can pick warlord traits and I have used that to reliably reserve and deep strike them. I can see them going well in an orbital Assault list. With AL, having tank hunters and comb-meltas could really put the hurt on, but with all the armored ceramite that isn't likely. These guys really shine in games vs 40k armies, but that is another topic for another time. My consensus is full unit with max combi-weapons, preferably plasma. Try infiltrate or deep strike them. Failing that, a rhino will do. Hopefully you can make some points back by dropping some expensive Termies or Cyborgs. PS: I've always wanted to use World Burner to add shred to tempest bolts. Don't know if that would help them. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297518-seeker-squad-tactics/#findComment-3825215 Share on other sites
hisdudeness
They are assassin squads. Tool them out for Elite Legion Termie killers and they can handle just about anything.
