Night Lords & Dark Angels

The Red Thirst

I really like the DA helmet too, I wish we could see more of (Dr. Corswain, I presume) his armor and robes.

I neeeeeed to see how to model my stuff!

Is it just me or do you guys feel like on the covers of DA novels they always paint their armor a color other than it's supposed to be? Descent of angels had their armor green, fall of angels had their armor as grey, this one is pretty hard to make out other than the gold.

Still it's nice to see ADB get to some more Night Lords stuff.

See that's where I disagree. The NL have had way more than their fair share of A D-B love already. I just finished reading the Omnibus recently (on my honeymoon no less) and I thought it was fantastic, absolutely dripping with characterisation. Wouldn't you like the Raven Guard to get cool catchphrases like 'in midnight clad' or have the culture and psychology of your legion fleshed out to the extent the NLs were in that trilogy?

There are a number of underdeveloped legions desperately in need of this kind of attention and I'd rather see A D-B's talent spent on those, rather than re-treading familiar NL ground.

Oh trust me, I'm sacrificing small children to the great black library gods to get a Raven Guard omnibus.

I can dream.

I noticed that too, weren't the Ist Legion in black armour during the Crusade/Heresy. Maybe the difference in the artworks is to distinguish them from the Iron Hands and Raven Guard, but then again no one can mistaken that knightly helm or its origin, simply dont know.

I'll give "Master of the First" a chance.  Master of Sanctity was a satisfying read.  "The Lion" was also rather good, even if some parts (cough, Nemiel) seemed heavy-handed and arbitrary and others (cough, the pointless inclusion of Calas Typhon*, who we knew had to survive this somehow).

* Come to think of it, one of the few things that bugged me about Master of Sanctity was ...

... the pointless inclusion of the Terminus Est, which ended up being nothing more than a tease.
