blackoption
The Imperial Fists characters have the Advantage of the Solarite Power Gauntlet being an AP1 MC'd Power Fist without Specialist Weapon. So, luckily you don't need to invest into another Specialist weapon for another attack. they also have access to the vigil pattern storm shield which makes for better resilience in a mirror match (the blood and honour rule mitigates any lost attack through ccw's) WE Praetor with Paragon Blade, twin falax blades, jump pack. This praetor can wreck house. The paragon blade can take anything in armor, while the twin falax blades allow him to wreck a mob singled handedly (+2 attacks for specialist weapon and +1 attack rule, combined with rage.... that's 7 attacks on a charge.... rending for added bonus). This is an anti horde paragon. Especially against guardsmen/low armor save hordes I have the sneaking suspicion the twin falax blades might come across the 'twin' weapon idea that it already counts as two weapons which is why it gets +1 attack like angron with the gore-family but i prefer your idea. The barb-hook lash would probably be better against T4+ types with poor armour. Wounding on a 2+ is better than +1 attack when you have 8 (+1 from digilasers man!) The rules for centurion/praetor for world eaters does not reflect this. It states that they can exchange either their bolt pistol OR chainsword for the cadere weapons and the Falax blades does not have the two handed rule. I see what you are saying, but as it is written, the falax blades benefit from having a 2nd specialist weapon just like a power fist or lightning claw would. For Raven Guard praetors... it depends on how you are going to use them. If infilitrate is your preferred method... A paragon blade with a camoline and a ranged weapon would be my suggestion. If you are going for Furious Charge... then Raven Talon's might be an interesting alternative for a paragon blade if you wish something else. Something else I thought of today... considering the rules set for a 'talent for murder'.... wouldn't the chainglaves rend on 5+ if gaining the bonus for 'talent for murder' Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297551-praetor-load-out/page/2/#findComment-3828623 Share on other sites
Excubitor
Salamanders - Cataphractii, Mantle, Shield, Thunder Hammer at least. Or go Arti, Iron Halo, Mantle, Shield, TH, combi-flamer/inferno pistol. Master-craft the TH and grab Digi-weapons as wanted. Paragon Blade may strike at initiative and get ID on 6's, but the TH just needs to get through once and it splats anything not EW. Plus, Salamanders and Hammers just go together. Tiger9gamer
I think that an infiltrating preator's loadout could be arti armor, iron halo, volkite serpenta, Power Axe. that way it has a lot of attacks and can still hurt armor, but a bit slower. that or power fist/serpenta Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297551-praetor-load-out/page/2/#findComment-3832447 Share on other sites
Brofist
Why a serpenta? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297551-praetor-load-out/page/2/#findComment-3832562 Share on other sites
Slips
I'd only give a Serpenta if you know you'll be facing T-Shirt Save hordes. If not I'd keep the BP or give him a Plasma Pistol. That or you just have the points left over in your list and go "ehh w/e". Dono1979
One thing to consider with IF and EC Praetors- they must always issue/accept challenges. In a land of non fearless troops you could get challenged out with a chump sergeant letting a mirror match Praetor smack up your squishy troops. Its less likely thanks to 7th edition, but you could loosing the combat entirely and get swept thanks to your preator getting tied up by one dude and his 4++. Just to clarify, Imperial Fists trait only requires them to Issue challenges, not Accept them. While very small, this is a very important difference to those that have to Issue and Accept. Especially in 7th Ed with the new Challenge rules and over flow. depthcharge12
I've run a plasma pistol on my 1st legion Ridemaster for reasons of fluff and to make use of his BS of 5. Doesn't always make his points back with it but it can definitely snipe an important dude in a command squad or otherwise.
