LoW options

So after a recent Tourney I got my butt handed to me in the semifinals I was researching options for GK Lords of War and found a few.

Draigo

Thunderhawk

Thunderhawk Gunship

Marauder Bomber

Maruader Destroyer

Warhound

Draigo I used before but compared to what I have to face with him is just ridiculous. Got lucky vs a transcedent vault but a lynx or baneblade.... yeeeaaahh no.

So what would you use or think is best and why? Pros and cons of each?

Compared to the thunderhawk and warhound yes. Less shots and hullpoints compared to marauder thunderhawk and warhound. Though the ik isnt a low I use em often. He rarely make it past turn 1 and if he does doesnt do much impact sadly.

Was thinking if none of them are much good I got 3 iks ill just try to fit more then 1 in per game.

The Warhound with double turbo-laser and two VSG's with 3x shields each. Take double NSF to unlock the extra Fortification slot, or take Allies. Either way, that Warhound will refuse to die, and pump out Destroyer blasts all day until the enemy give up.

Nah, only if you're noob. Take an Allied detachment of Knights instead, you can technically take one of each FW variant so long as you have a token Paladin/Errant in the force (the 'no more variant than regular' rule isn't exclusive).

I faced a Baneblade once with my SW. It died turn 2 after glancing a few Rhinos. I had a buddy facing a Warhound AND a Baneblade with his IG, they got smoked turn 2 and 4 respectively with the majority of the IG force in tact.

You get the idea. Investing so many points into something that most armies laugh at is not a good idea in a competitive setting.

Gotta second RD, take Knights. They are reasonably prices and still perform excellently. I have seen quite a few dual Knight lists and they did really well.

Alterntively, you can look at Gerantius. Granted, at the cost of 25 strikers you are getting into BB territory, but he is a boss. Look up his rules, it's in the WD issue 24.

Baneblades haven't been good for a long time. Ever since Knight-Titans became a thing most super-heavies just don't match up by comparison (because Knight-Titans not only rek at range, they have Destroyer melee and a lot of mobility). Warhounds by themselves aren't so bad, its when you layer them in Void Shield Generators that they become obnoxious (you end up with something like 12x AV12 ablative layers to strip before you even hit the Warhound itself). IG I'm not surprised took them apart, their firepower is matched only by Eldar and Tau.

I was actually considering him in my TWC list as opposed to the GK detachment. Too bad most tournament do not allow him (which I can sort of understand, he makes a Baneblade look like an amateur school boy if you know how to handle him).

Yeah he's a little absurd, even for 500pts. Just take the Adamantine Lance formation instead ;) a few extra points and you basically get three Gerantius's.
