Bought around 300 helmets in one go. Think I have 200 or so left these days. It was $.25 a gram back then so I think I paid $10.00 for the lot (2003 I think was the year). Sadly I have not been able to find a 3D sculpt to match so if someone knows of one, I am all ears. I am not sure if they are completely your style but while searching for skull helmets I've come across this fellow's "gargoyle" style helmets. May work for you? https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/gargoyle-night-helmets Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297765-the-cult-of-orange/page/5/#findComment-6042598 Share on other sites

Terminatorinhell
God I do miss the days you could buy stuff fairly reasonably priced from GW. I had to wind up paying someone to design the specific Iron warriors helmet I use on my chapter master. But at least I have the stl and can make as many as I'll ever want. Kurgan the Lurker
Well some time ago @Volgon suggested Kranidude from the "Purple place" as a possibility for replacement Vulture helms. I wound up chatting with him for some time and he made Vulture's version of his gargoyle helmets for me, which you all can order if you like here: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/gargoyle-night-helmets-v2@Orkdung cast up some helmets for me and I have some side by sides with the original Vulture helmet and a current Primaris head. It is definitely smaller than original Raptor Champion head, but pretty close to a current Primaris helmet. I think this might take care of the issue I have with the Raptor helmets on Primaris bodies. That being you have to trim down or fully away the gorget portions of the armor. I am going to try and throw together a test model (at least build wise - no paint) this weekend. It is a steamy 38F here today so not ideal for priming, even in the heated garage. Kurgan the Lurker
In "Ye Olden Times" you could buy bitz by the gram at Games Day. I bought a boat load of these old Chaos Space Marine pads with a skinned ork face on them. The idea for this Chapter, the "Orksbane", was that one of their final acts as a scout was to go out, defeat an ork and skin it for their Chapter Badge. For old 3rd-7th edition Marines these were great for size. I wasn't entirely sure how they would work with modern Primaris Marines. Depending on which ones the pads may work...may not. Older push fit Primaris would require a lot of work to make it fit. More modern Primaris with separate shoulder pads, the pads go on fairly easy. However, I'm not sure on the size. This is just an Intercessor body/arms with one of these pads (1996 is their era) on the left shoulder. It looks ok in this picture. I think for things like Gravis or Phobos is probably going to require some sculpting if it goes forward. I honestly haven't looked at the sprues for them to see if they are multi-part these days as I have so many of them from box sets with the shoulder pad as part of the arm already. Anyway...I think the size looks ok compared to the Primaris shoulder pad so I can probably go forward with using the 200 or so pads I have. Volgon
Cool idea! It doesn't look too bad for its age. It's bordering on too small so I would be surprised to see it fit on something like a Bladeguard or Gravis arm. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to clip away at the shoulder part that the pad sits on. I think if you could make the pad sit closer to the torso it would look better and a bit more in scale. This usually ruins the connection point so I glue a small piece of green stuff to the inside of the pad and then glue that to the shoulder to give some contact. Kurgan the Lurker
@Volgon yeah that is what I had done for other test fits. It is required in some cases. For this, it has some of the new SW arms on it and the "interior shoulder" is smaller so I just slid it down over the top. No glue or tac or anything, just to get an idea if it would work or not. My other option is of course to get a modern version 3D sculpted. Although GWs recent crack down on Etsy sellers cost me one of my favorite shops for that. Terminatorinhell
The gargoyle helmet print came out super well. I know the feeling about nit being able to get specific parts. There's a metal Iron Warriors helmet I use for my chapter master specifically and it's OOP or I'd need to get the whole IW upgrade set for it. So I decided to just have someone make me something similar and print out like 50 of them lol. space wolf
Another idea would be to just make a mold of the face and cast it. Especially since you only need 1 surface a 1 part mold out of onimaru or epoxy would work well. Then you could use 3d print resin and a black light and youre good to go...or use a mis of GS and Miliput. Is it more work, yes...but if youre really worried about the size differential, thats how I'd go. But, if an entire army has those, i dont think anyone would notice Kurgan the Lurker 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297765-the-cult-of-orange/page/5/#findComment-6123255 Share on other sites
