Have people had success wtih these guys(paint wise) with simple GW colors, or using other ranges? Thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297841-carcharodons-carquestion/ Share on other sites
Kaedes Nex
It's impossible to pin down the exact grey due to everyone's lighting being different. For example, Will Hayes, the guy who redesigned the modern Carcharodons, has painted his own army in a medium grey and you could have seen it in real life on display in the past, but the studio photo of his Tyberos model appears to be a very light grey due to the intense lighting used in professional light (you know, the ones with the umbrellas) and the white backdrop and possible digital modification. The official artwork also leans slightly towards a lighter grey, and the original RT Space Sharks are also a light grey, as are actual Carcharodon sharks. It would be best to begin by picking what kind of grey you want. A light grey, a medium grey, or a dark grey. There is no wrong choice and you should paint them how you feel they look best, because even Will Hayes made a couple changes to the official artwork and the fluff he wrote when painting his army that I think look really good (gold cruxes instead of bronze/absent crux, red Space Shark stripes on his Red Brethren, white teeth patterns and black White Scars-esque spikes on his tanks, etc). I will say that medium grey will be the easiest and quickest with the most varied paint options (dark grey has a lot of options too but most of them have a lot of blue or green in them, and you can also darken your grey with black washes) to paint without an airbrush, but light grey would probably be the most "accurate".
