Well Scars was already supposed to be early and Molech being so early would explain why Mortarion's armor still had battle damage from his fight with the Khan, but I'm pretty sure there was mention of events that don't take place until the 3rd year of the Heresy. Although I can't seem to think of any specific examples. Needless to say, I too thought it had been later on in the Heresy. Year 4 to be precise.

I think you meant the Shadow Crusade and Fulgrim turning into a Daemon Prince
Well, Fulgrim is a year one event as well. But the Shadow Crusade would definitely have to place it after year two unless it was just starting.

@Heathens

That troop carrier for the SA can carry 20 models with the lascannon, or 10 with the demolisher cannon.

The stormtrooper guys all have void hardened carapace armor and are armed with volkites - to quote Alan Bligh - "Here at FW we believe everything can be made better with volkites.

(This truly, is a man after my own heart.)

The las rifles are range 30"

Storm hammer tank is coming. This beast is designed to drive into the middle of an enemy formation and release hell with 4 Battlecannons, 4 twin-linked lascannons and 8 twin-linked heavy bolters with heavy Armour all around.

Yeah.

Good gods of the Warp... wub.png

Night Haunter and Sevatar look just as I imagined them to look (except perhaps the Night Haunter's lightning claws were a tad bit too small?).

I'm more intrigued about the information released about Book V: Calth. Looks like I will have to hold off my Ultramarines until that comes out.

I don't know, so far the only crap dread release I've seen is that Word Bearers. Almost no ornamentation at all. It's just so..... bland. Meanwhile the Raven Guard get a dread with a bad censored.gif Samoan tribal design? Heck to the censored.gif yeah!

For me its the Iron Warrior dreadnought. I'm still really disappointed in the direction they went with it. I'm scared that the torso/head packs will be in a simliar vein.

Wait a minute, looking at the timeline, it places the Battle of Molech back in the second year of the Heresy. Am I the only one that strikes wrong for some reason?

I think the author(s) have confirmed somewhere that Battle of Molech is 009.M31. Also, consider these time references:

-The "Devine Adotrice" mentions that the year it takes place is 966.M30 and that this is 168th year of the GC.

-VS refers to events of Device Adotrice as happening 43 years ago, putting Molech firmly to 009.M31

- "The Lost Sons" short story says it is set at "day one hundred and eleven of the fifth year" since BA main fleet left for Signus cluster (~005.M31) and at the end of the story, a contact is received from Sanguinius, putting the story towards the end of UE and FtT. Also, this short story has character Rubio at Baal, who is also present at Molech, and it would seem that this is happening before VS (though there is no hard evidence).

-UE mentions it takes place "barely more than two years past [Calth]", and it is common knowledge that Calth is 007.M31.

What do you think? What is the chronological order of UE, Lost Sons and VS? Is that 008.M31 for Molech a mistake?

Just not happy with it feeling so compressed especially as multiple main characters are just jumping all through the galaxy every which way in such short periods

D'you mean the whole heresy? Hasn't it always been known to be 7 years?

I can't tell if that was a sarcastically rude answer or some sort of sarcastically rude lecture, but if I read it right, then you're saying that yes, I was correct in thinking it should have been later in the timeline.

I'm sorry if you received it as such. It wasn't meant to be rude or sarcastic. You were pointing out that Molech was at a weird place on the timeline and I'm simply sharing evidence in support of that statement.

No im fine with that just that fulgrim mort etc are galaxy jumping in days rather than typical travel time

Oh yeah I see. I agree actually now I think about it. They just pop up whenever with no thought to how long the travel should have taken.

Yeah, I totally get Jasp's poitn. It isn't that the Heresy is happening in less time, its that more is happening in it and its almost as if the Primarchs have turned into Time Lords or something considering that they have to be around for almost everything lately.
Mhmm, come to think of it I can't really think of the last HH novel without Primarchs popping up left right and centre. It used to be okay because Primarchs are cool, but now it's happening too often, and it takes away from the normal Space Marines having chance to be awesome characters on their own. Which books lately have had characters like Loken, or Argal Tal?

I've mentioned that before, and I'm in agreement. Don't get me wrong, I loves me some primarch time, but too much is too much. It's a bloody galactic war on a galactic scale, with a bajillion characters doing a bajillion things. So why in the heck are we constantly fixated on the same 18 dudes?

Another thing is the loss of mystification surrounding the Primarchs themselves. Yeah, I get it; it's the Heresy, and many of the myths surrounding the Primarchs were bound to be lifted. We got to see some face time with demi-Gods made flesh. But there's a point where I don't really want to see how deep their humanity runs. I feel like it takes away from them some, removes their potency. *shrug* Personal opinion, mind.

Tallarn: Executioner is a wonderful example of what is possible without a Primarch in a book. Riven and Echos of Old Night as well. Heck, even Honour to the Dead was smokin'.

Give the Primarchs a break, please, BL. Give their sons some extra spotlight time.

I think that for some reason, the novels are reserved for the more Primarch-centric stories while the novellas, audios and shot stories are reserved for the "smaller fish". I think I'd be okay with that except for the fact we have more short stories than novels and that even then, most of those short stories and novellas still feature the Primarch, or have him as a sideline character. For example, Prince of Crows and the story where Aximand lost his face. You still knew the Primarchs were there in the background.
