What am i missing?

I started to look at Space Wolves when I picked up Stormclaw.  I'd never been much of a fan of the Wolves until I got that, read Prospero Burns and picked up the Dex.  To cut a long story short, I bought a few bits and bobs and now have a reasonable force.  But it doesn't feel 'complete'.

Here's what I have (*with what I need to pick up), what would you get to finish it off and why?  (Oh, I know no army is ever 'finished' but you know what I mean!!)

Krom

Ulrick

Rune Priest*

Wolf Priest*

15 Blood Claws

20 Grey Hunters (2 packs, 1 with 2 plasma, 1 with 2 melta)

2 Drop pods (ive got 1)

10 WGTDA (I pack set up as per stormclaw, 1 ranged)

a few lone wolves, a TDA cyclone to add in when needed

5 Long Fangs

Stormwolf*

I was thinking of some TWC....but wanted to get the opinion of the Fang

I'd suggest 1 GH pack with Flamer, 1 more drop pod (By drop pod mechanics you get 1/2 rounded up on the first turn, so you want a number that's typically odd so you get more drops. With 3 pods, round 1, 2 pods drop, and round 2, 1 could. If you had 5 pods, 3 could drop round 1, and 2 would wait in reserve, etch. ) I'd also grab 2 Iron priests, and 4-10 TWC 2 packs of 4-5 lead by an Iron priest seems to be a super solid method right now, make sure the IP are on thunder wolves, but they (IP+TWC) is a extremely potent death star, but you are going to need some cyber wolves for the IP (They can take up to 4 a piece) Also you need at least 1 pack of Fenrisian wolves, if for nothing else it is often a great equipment choice for like a warlord/wgbl/lonewolf etc, to have that basically just ablative wounds. If your guys aren't magnetized id suggest 5 WGDA for the 'void claw' formation, essentially they are 5 WGTDA with dual wolf claws that deep strike turn 1 automatically, they can reroll their scatter dice and allow you to reroll all reserve rolls to bring out more guys. Which is pretty essential if you're pulling in a stormwolf filled with Bloodclaws and Ulrik because that's essentially 500 points chilling out that could possibly take turn 3-4 before they arrive on the board if your dice are cold. Their is also a really great formation with Arjac's Shieldbrothers. Essentially its Arjac, 5 WGTDA with Thunderhammers and Stormshields and a LRC. It has a lot of nasty offensive and defensive bonuses and it is worth considering to get/build for as well.

In conclusion, additional wolves for consideration:

TWC 4-10

IP 2-4

8-16 Cyber Wolves

5-15 Fenrisian Wolves

5 Void claw Load out WGTDA

5 Arjac Brotherhood load out WGTDA

Arjac

Land Raider Crusader

1 More drop pod

1 GH pack with Flamer

Hi guys,

Thanks a lot for the replies.  I'm a pretty big collector - I first played during 2nd Ed, had a hiatus then came back at the start of 6th Ed.

Jochteas - thanks for such a detailed answer.  There are quite a few units in there that have made me pin back my ears.  The Voidclaw formation sounds like a hoot and I think that gives me a good excuse to get some FW Cataphractii bodies made up...

The heavy support is lacking so I may go down the Vindicator route....the aggressive tactics needed to make one work well suit my take on the Space Wolves and this force.

Mr Irish Dwarf, I think I'll leave the speeders behind as, being a DA nut (no, for the 100th time I will not fight your champiom...)  I have quite a few of those in my RW force and want a different play style.

Immersturm - I'm a pretty big collector - I first played during 2nd Ed, had a hiatus then came back at the start of 6th Ed.  I have quite a few FW bits (pride of place at the mo is the Fire Raptor) so I'm pretty confident about them.

Some forge world units that may have value:

Sicaran (good all rounder, fair anti air without sacrificing other roles, can be excellent anti air with one of the legacies of glory in ia2)

Whirlwind scorpius (anti power armour barrage)

Predator executioner (anti power armour)

Rapier weapons platforms (far outperform long fangs point for point on all criteria apart from range for the lascannons)

Contemptor in lucius pod (dreadnoughts are awkward but SW contemptors have 2-3 more attacks than comparable offerings from other chapters. With one of the sagas and a chainfist, they stand a pretty good chance of mutually assured destruction against an imperial knight, at half the points cost)

Fire raptors are good, but the storm wolf is perhaps the best flier in the game, or close to it. And a lot more versatile than the raptor.

Spartans are much better than phobos raiders, but are a bit of a points sink in small games.

Steer clear of:

Anything Helios

Land raider Proteus unless you have a very clear role for it

Personally my opinion is that of all the FW options, rapier laser destroyer platforms are the most powerful option relative to comparable codex offerings. They are MUCH more shooty and durable for an equivalent points value in long fangs.

Oof, a couple of those whirlwind scorpius would be nice. Have been playing around with the executioner too...first game i tested it in it wiped 11 entrenched marines off the board in one turn of shooting - albeit id taken the ignores cover upgrade, which would also work pretty nicely on the scorpius i would imagine.

Gotta say the Sicarian is well worth its points. I play 1500-2000 pt games with it(4 so far)& it's always got its pts back & then some. Even the the pysch factor(that thing is new-I know he told me what it does & the rules for it but what does it really do????) right now is huge. Even with the Legacy, it's about 200ish pts & is good for more then just AA.
