Local tourney, want some list advice

Seems like a lot of points to come on Turn 2... hopefully. The dreadknight is already on the board dealing with threats that could potentially bring down your raven when it does come on. Unless you want to combat squad a purifier squad into two ravens I think two dreadknights would be better.

That's my dilemma. I don't want a huge amount of points off-table potentially for 3-4 turns if the dice screw me over (Comms Relay should mitigate it...but I can roll double 1's like a pro). I'm gonna do some playtesting with some friends who play competitive lists, see what works best. I'm leaning back towards more DK's though.

What's your list btw. The only one I see is the one by GL.

Link is in the OP

Take two detachments, then you can have two Ravens AND two DreadKnights.

I already am taking 2x NSF, so Force Org slots aren't the issue. In fact with my current build I can take 3x DK and 2x Raven. I just don't know if taking 2x Ravens is a good idea below 2k. Its a lot of points that are at the mercy of Reserve rolls (plus any cargo I put in them ie Purifiers and Libbys).

I've stopped using my Raven in my local meta, because it's easier to avoid a Flyer than it is for GK to kill a Flyer with another Flyer. When I do field my Raven, its in a formation with two Talons painted in GK colors, because at least they arrive together and have strafe.

The problem is, I'm almost certain to face enemy Flyers and FMC's in this upcoming tourney. I have no other Skyfire or even viable strategy to deal with such targets if I don't include at least one Raven. It's also the only way to deliver Purifiers, otherwise I have to camp the entire unit in the bunker (which is wasteful of their melee ability and 'Cleansing Flame').

I don't play Purifiers, their motility restrictions make them unwieldy for my play style. I deal with Flying vehicles primarily by avoiding their weapon arcs and getting into CC as soon as possible. Flying Monstrous Creatures can be grounded, can't shoot into CC, and can be killed with mass fire. I don't even bother with Skyfire, for the most part. If I'm feeling frisky and want to clog the table with big models, I'll take my Raven with Talon escorts in a formation, because one Raven on its own is a death trap while the 360-degree turret on the Talons make up for their 2 hull points. Also, arriving together has a much higher survivability than arriving piecemeal.

Two Heavy Psycannons are more than fine for ground FMCs.

Granted, they've fixed Heldrakes finally, but it's hard to get into melee quickly against some armies. Also, against an FMC-spam Nid list (as just one example), it's not really a viable strategy to just ignore the Flyrants and Crones, as their firepower can whittle down your infantry pretty fast.

Flying Monstrous Creatures can be grounded, can't shoot into CC, and can be killed with mass fire.

Hitting on 6's means you either have to commit most of your viable firepower to the task, or just ignore it. Grounding isn't something to be relied upon either, its a 3+ test.

It's something I'm considering. How much do Stormtalons usually cost? IIRC it's in the range of 115pts each or something like that.

Same cost as our librarian before upgrades, comes with t-l assault cannon and t-l heavy bolter.

The heavy bolter is the gun that you swap for new weapons and they seem necessary but way over costed.

Ah k. At that price point it's kinda hard to see why you'd take them. Quad-guns and other normal AA options blow them apart with ease, as do other Flyers.
Ignoring flyers is a viable strategy for some army's, but IMO not so much for gk. High cost low model count non mech and no jink is about the optimal target for flyers.

Yeah it's really annoying, because whilst they get units in the air we can't even reliably hit, nevermind kill, they get free reign to whittle down our tiny number of models. It's why I field barely any infantry and pour points into Dreadknights. Between their T6, 2+/4+ saves and mobility (not to mention their heavy psycannon and S10 AP2 at I4)...why would I ever take Terminators?
