GrandMagnus
Hi brothers and sister, While I was looking through MEGA BITZ SHOP I stumbled accross this bits piece from the fantasy High Elves: http://megabitzshop.com/bilder/produkte/gross/Warhammer-Bitz-High-Elf-Shadow-Warriors-Sisters-of-Avelorn-Cape-A-Shadow-Master_b2.jpg I was wondering if anybody have any suggestions or ideas on how to add a power armoured torso to this particular cape or how to convert it to add it to a power armoured torso? Would it be easier just to make a greenstuff cape? Cheers. FOR MODS: Is this thread okay? I mean, it is marine related. ShinyRhino
Why not just use the cape back from the Commander box kit? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298097-how-to-convert-this-piece/#findComment-3836311 Share on other sites
ChromeZephyr
I'd imagine it'd be very similar to how one of our esteemed frater added DE Corsair cloaks to Space Marine torsos. GrandMagnus
Shiny: I want to add it to a MK III torso and therefore I cant use the commander cape. I also never really liked it that much. Chrome: Thank you, that thread is usefull! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298097-how-to-convert-this-piece/#findComment-3836342 Share on other sites
reckoning
Thats a really cool bit. I have the sudden urge to convert a scout sgt using it. Thanks for the idea! Brother-Chaplain Kage
For a plastic torso in two halves it would be easy enough, but for a MK III, I would just trim off as much of the High Elf torso as I could and then see about fitting it to the MK III, making adjustments as needed. Lucien Eilam
Just to give you an idea of the size disparity: http://cdn.lightbringers-space-marines.net/wip/ShadowWarriorVsSpaceMarine.jpg If you have the skill to make that work, you're probably up to the task of sculpting the entire cloak from green stuff. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Oh, didn't realize it was that much smaller than a marine torso. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298097-how-to-convert-this-piece/#findComment-3836607 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
I would use the marine commander cloak and saw a mkIII torso in half, you may need to smooth the plastic a little. Alternatively you could Coutts out a " V " on the cloak where those straps are and fit it under the backpack mounting block. I'll edit in some pics to explain. GrandMagnus
Oookay, I actually thought the cape was bigger. In that case, yes, it would probably be easier to make a greenstuff cape from scratch. The_Chaplain
I dont see why you couldn't get a marine torso back; cut that cloak at the hood hem line and block out just a modicum of greenstuff to hybridize the two and make the cloth flow look a little more natural. I understand the hesitancy in sculpting a full blown cloak from scratch; it's an avenue I haven't been brave enough to try either-- but with the aforementioned method, you can get the best of both worlds; without agonizing over the drapery of the lower half of the cloak. Durus
Just to give you an idea of the size disparity: http://cdn.lightbringers-space-marines.net/wip/ShadowWarriorVsSpaceMarine.jpg If you have the skill to make that work, you're probably up to the task of sculpting the entire cloak from green stuff. You just align it to one side of the back and cut the middle out so it will fit around the nub on the back of a SM torso the backpack sits on. Then you add the two or three millimeters on the side where is looks a little small and blend it into the edge. You could also blend it into the back of the torso, but that would be obscured by the backpack anyway. You would just need to smooth out a single noodle of GS to make that fit onto a SM back. With that it would basically look exactly the same as the SM commanders Cape looks like out of the sprue. If you want something more ambitious like draping it around the shoulderpads like on the old Sword Brothers miniatures or the Dark Angels Captains, you really need to sculpt a little, but simply putting this on the backside of a Power Armor torso would be mostly hidden by the backpack, so a pretty simple conversion imo. +edit+ Well, after posting this I just saw that The Chaplain already said what I meant to say with a lot fewer words. Go figure. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298097-how-to-convert-this-piece/#findComment-3839551 Share on other sites
