Tank company WIP

Recommended Posts

Got my first tank today.  I have three more in the mail, should arrive on Tuesday.  This one just needs some touch ups, but I don't have the right shade of grey until tomorrow.  And it really needs some weathering powder on the hull especially but also on the treads, etc..  The heavy bolter in the hull mount is just a stand in until I get the drill to drill barrels out.

I also started work on the barrel for the vanquisher cannon and a lascannon for the hull so I can outfit the Russ as a tankbuster when necessary.

The plan is to use some gauze as camo netting to cover up the somewhat simplistic paint job.

Found a tutorial where a guy mudded up his tanks using a mixture of earth from the backyard.  I thought his tanks looked great so I used the technique.  This also has some Mournfang Brown mixed in to get it to match what I had used thus far.

Camo netting for the barrel of the cannon and this sucker is done.

Great to see your tanks taking form already Wittmann! It's a good scheme especially the mud which looks fantastic - could you link the tutorial you used for it please? Good use of the cheesecloth, your tanks will be done in no time at this rate!

Will you be returning to them at some point to add more details once you've got the table ready? For example any transfers or painting the lenses? Unfortunately you first post's pictures don't seem to work - as a member of the B&C you get to have your own galleries too so you could use them instead? It's a good gallery feature, user friendly and reliable let me know if you need any pointers with it smile.png

It's just earth from the back yard, some white glue, some water and some mournfang brown.  Mix it all up until you have the consitency you like, then pile it on with a big ass brush.  Once it's dry, hit it with a shot of dullcoat and it seems to be sticking pretty well.

i'm liking what you've done with them although i think some things could really help these tanks to stand out more:

-your mud is a bit too thick. here are some real life references of muddy tanks. it's usefull to look these up so as to get realistic mud effects on your armoured force!

as you can see from the images all the "heavy" mud stays close to the tracks, while the rest of the tank just gets covered in "thin" watery-mud.

-you seem to have forgotten to put on the sideskirts on your turret. was that on purpose?

-these tanks deserve some love. get some decals on them, or even use stencils to give them all a lovely name/number!

just my advice from a fellow threadhead, but i'm looking forward to see more of these!

So the 3 tanks arrived yesterday.  Got them primed.  These aren't fully glued together yet because I dry brush each piece individually before gluing together.  The hull guns aren't in this picture, but they are primed black ready to go.

Will start drybrushing tomorrow.

I got a cheap Hellhound online and my next purchases are going to be a Demolisher and a Punisher, then a second Hellhound.  That gets me up to 1250 pts.
