Relic Fire Raptor

We have to ally for well everything....except dreadknights. We got that covered. Tis a shame. They really do need to make more gk friendly things. They would have more of my money if the codex didnt consist of just of termies purifiers and dreadknights. Sure got the dreadnought a raven and lr but for point cost viability more then one at very most is just not. But if we could have one of theese, darn right I would take one

The Fire Raptor I feel is a bit of a downgrade to the Stormraven. That being said, it's a very, very pretty model and it does what it does (Popping light vehicles and 3+ saves) very well. If you don't put Purifiers in your Stormraven and find you have more trouble with Rhinos than Leman Russes, it can certainly be a boon.

The Raven also does a much better job stripping HP off things like Knight-Titans or high AV targets, due to twin lascannon and twin multi-melta. Being an Assault Ramp transport as well is a huge boon to our army, as it gets Purifiers into the fight (being just about the only useful unit we can't utilise 'Rites' with).

Vanessa?  I prefer Shirley. ;)

If you can take a 'Grey Knight' Fire Raptor, then you can include it in a NSF.  At which point we have a Flier that can enter Deep Strike reserves (unlike the Raven) and potentially deploy turn 1, not turn 2.

Something to consider if you're tossing up between a FR or a SR.

If you're allying it in, then just go Space Wolf ones or Talons with Skyhammers.

Austin Powers reference ;)

That would be nice...but Jervis can't forge that narrative, so we lost Deepstrike on our only Flyer because that would be too much fun. As listed the Fire Raptor is only for weaker Marines and traitors. We're stuck with the Raven.

We need some cool fliers! To combat flying daemons...

Nah, what we need is Skyfire. Which had me thinking the other day...

Attach a Red Hunter Librarian to some Purifiers (preferably in a bunker of some kind). Turn on Protocols at an opportune moment, gain Skyfire.

I thought the assumption of this thread was a 'what if' GKs could take a GK Fire Raptor.

An allied one over a GK Storm Raven?  Storm Talons would probably be better.

The fire raptor is a lot of fun, and an awesome model too ;)

In competitive play, I find the stormraven to be more versatile. The fire raptor really only shines against infantry, and it does not have transport capacity. That being said, forcing pinning tests on 3-4 units per turn is pretty neat (if you play against something that can be pinned)

Skyfire isn't shared to a unit. ;_;

That's not how Protocols works though. On the turn you select to active it, you select a number of units equal to the Turn number, then they have the chosen special rule till end of turn. So, you'd select your unit of Purifiers with attached Red Hunters Librarian (as you can't just select the Libby, as he's now part of the unit). They'd then all receive the buff.

How long is a piece of string? ;)

7th edition FAQ is long overdue on this and a bunch of other issues (the psychic phase in particular is a mess that only house-ruling sorta fixes). I'd even prefer a main rulebook FAQ over a codex one at this point.
