Wolf turn 2, Stormwolf arrives and the attack gets serious

The Stormwolf destroys one Chimera, it's explosion killing half squad, while a tree branch saves it's second target

The TWC get off a charge against a Chimera, it's thunder hammer making short work of it

The Guard wipe out the TWC, so GH packs 1 & 2 emerge and kill off Guardman squad and Mortar Team 2. Rhino moves to block LoS

Wolf Lord and GH pack 3 move out to take objective, wipe out Guardsman holding objective with bolter fire

Following turn, Wolf Lord and GH pack 3 wait for Stormwolf to kill Lord Commissar's Chimera, charge and wipe out Guard Platoon Command Squad and L.C. in single round of CC

GH Pack 1 moves to engage either Guardsmen squad or Vanquisher squad on the hill

GH Pack 1 moves to engage either Guardsmen Squad or Vanquisher on the hill while Rhino with 1 hull point left moves into cover to hide

Center of table, the thinning Guard forces stretch to take multiple objectives

Wolf Lord and GH pack 3 move and kill everything within arm reach. Stormwolf in hover moves pivots and spins to engage armor everywhere

Guardsmen bunker down on Objective 5 in Wolf deployment zone far away from the action

GH pack 1 kills Vanquisher in CC and moves to engage Guardsmen

GH pack 2 moves to wipe out Guardsmen holding Objective 2 in CC, I use Mass move to slingshot towards Guardsmen in my deployment zone

GH pack 3 wipes out Ratlings holding Objective 1, moves to claim it

Wolf Lord wipes out Mortar team, takes single wound from Overwatch

Last Chimera makes move to grab Objective 6

Guard Missile team make attempt to claim Objective 3, miss by an inch or so

GH pack 2 makes long charge and wipes out Guardsmen bunkered in Wolf deployment zone

GH pack 3 returns to woods and kills last Chimera to take the Objective

Wolf Lord engages Guardsmen Missile team in CC, wipes them out

Game ends in favor of the Wolves, 21 to 7. I scored 18 points off of Tactical Cards, as well as Slay the Warlord, Line Breaker and First Blood.

For the first three turns, Uberwolve's Guard pound my Wolves very hard but couldnt get through my armor and cover saves. Once the Wolves got amongst the Guard, the game swung my way. I managed to score multiple objectives and through the Cards, got multiple points for wiping out the Warlord and holding multiple objectives for a turn. Thats what ran up the score.

The game itself went 7 turns, and I racked up most of my score during turns 5,6,7. The score doesnt show just how much hate the Guard laid down, but Uberwolve dice just stopped rolling to wound/penetrate once I was broke into his ranks.

It was a fun, very fun game and showed me just how insane Maelstrom missions can be. If you asked me on Turns 2 or 3 I would have swore up and down the Guard were going to win the game. A few cards later and a boatload of luck, the Wolves were among the prey.

My army was:
Wolf Lord in TDA, Black Death, frost sword, Helm of Durfast (only took helm to eat up remaining points)
2x10 GH packs in Rhinos, kitted out.

1x10 GH pack in Stormwolf

Thunderwolf Cac 1x 4

list ended at 1,499pts

Uberwolve had (from memory)

Lord Commissar, no extra equipment

1 min Guard Platoon, in Chimeras

1 min Guard Platoon, in Chimeras with Autocannons

2x3 Mortar Teams

1x3 Missile Team with Flakk Missiles

2x4 Ratling Snipers.

Hope you all enjoyed the read!

Thanks for the pics and the report brother, good to see you record another victory for the Rout, your experience in this battle mirrors my own using the wolves so far in 7th, we usually have to weather some fire on the way in but once we get amongst the enemy we live up to our reputation as the Allfathers executioners msn-wink.gif Well played and have a flagon for your victory !

I had a very good time despite being TABLED!

Good Game.

I really liked my list and am seeing a few changes to improve it.

Note.  No plasma guns were used. This may have been a slight mistake. HA!

Over all I was aiming to "win by objectives" and tried.

And then my dice did let me down.

I look forward to our next game.

@Jochteas: I was disappointed in the TWC as well, but they absorbed alot of shots and mortar fire.
However I am too used to their bullet sponge manner to be surprised in the amount of time it took them to die

@Konnavaer: Thank you! This was my 3rd 7th ed game, but I am still playing in the 6th ed mindset I held for a long time. It does take a good deal of restraint for my to get hit so much and wait to hit back

@Uberwolve: Is there anything you'd think I should do differently next time?

@RPR:  Thanks alot. I wasnt crazy about how some of the pics turned out, and posting them to B&C was slightly annoying. Happy to see you enjoyed it.

Oh, ya loads! but we'll start with the one I like the most!  Don't roll so well! HA!

No, you brought a solid list that was expecting Green Skins and triumphed over IG. You stayed cool under fire and got use out of your Thunderwolves. It was unexpected that they would actually die to shooting. I expected one survivor for sure, who would then kill the rest of my back field singlehandedly.

You kept you pack together ie the rhinos and Thunderwolves. and when you were ready broke formation to attack where you wanted to. I wasn't able to pop a transport, I got close on both of the rhinos, before they were at that tall building Very good use of armour. The Stormwolf was amazing. rear AV 12 is supper tough.

For such a small army 4 squads 1 HQ 3 transports you did everything tool lite casualties and won the game by both points and tabled my army!

In hindsight..I should have had the Green Skins... That guy was taking pictures for his class project thing and I would have had a painted army as well..
