Ishagu
Hello friends I'm putting some finishing touches on my SoH army, and am wondering how to finalise the Veteran Tactical squad I have. Should I give them 2 plasmas and a combi plasma, or should I equip them with Meltas instead? I think Plasma is more effective on an infantry squad transported in a Rhino, but aside from 2 Sicaran Tanks with Las Sponsons and a Contemptor with Kheres and grav (this is not ideal anyways) I have no real ranged anti tank firepower. My army can deal with vehicles in assault... But that's easier said than done :-/ My army faces 40k armies exclusively as there are no HH players in my area. So... How should I equip them? Russ Brother 92
If you're facing solely 40k (like myself) I'd say go melta - 40k is a nambypambygirlywhirly ;) compared to us of the HERESY... but this also means there is little to none in terms of armoured ceramite, so unless they bring that 1 or 2 'relic' vehicles your meltas will be obliterating any tanks they have. plus an extra bit of AP1 love never hurts. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298314-how-should-i-equip-a-legion-veteran-tactical-squad/#findComment-3840918 Share on other sites
Ishagu
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well :-D In my effort to make use of as many unique 30k goodies, whilst also making my army different from other 30k forces I feel I've ended up with a horrible list that only suits the most friendly, narrative games. 2k Sons of Horus... -Master of Signal -Horus -10 Man Legion Veteran Squad, Combi Melta, 2 Meltas, Rhino -5 Justaerin Terminators, Power Fists, Chain Fist, Multi Melta -10 Man Reconnaissance Squad, Sniper Rifles -2 Sicaran Tanks, TL Lascannon Sponsons -Contemptor with Kheres, Power Fist with Graviton gun Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298314-how-should-i-equip-a-legion-veteran-tactical-squad/#findComment-3840956 Share on other sites
Russ Brother 92
Can you the big man in a 2k game? Thought it has to be no more than 25% and thought Horus is over 500? It is indeed horrible haha Horus is a monster alone xD but hey I'd play against it :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298314-how-should-i-equip-a-legion-veteran-tactical-squad/#findComment-3840979 Share on other sites

Ishagu
He is legal in a 2k game, and my army is exactly 2000 points :-D What better way to showcase the Heresy than by fielding the Primarch and Justaerin Terminators at his side? And thanks for agreeing that my list is horrible, it only cost $900 to put together!!! :-P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298314-how-should-i-equip-a-legion-veteran-tactical-squad/#findComment-3841014 Share on other sites
Slips
Another thing to try if you're up against lots of infantry would be Bolters (can be combis) with Heavy Bolters on Suspensor Webs and the Sniper Special Rule. You should be able to pseudo-rend things to death through weight of fire alone. Also helps that, if you half the range of the HB, with the Web, it turns the Heavy of its profile to Assault. Ishagu
I did consider heavy weapons with webbing... I just don't know where I'll drop points to include them, however. Lol I'm reluctant to omit anything due to the investment I've made... Slips
If you're grabbing any destroyers, you could use their Rad Missle Launcher as a HB on Suspensor Web Like I will and just slap a Bolter onto the legs of the other Pistol Wielders and call it a day EDIT: as for what you could cut to fit them in : You could change the Recon Marines to seekers and magnetize the hands to change weapons (if there is a noticeable difference in points). 10 Seekers with Combi-Plasmas at BS5 (6 if they're by your MoS) and Specialist Ammunition (the lulz you could unleash with Tempest Bolts. though you have to be at 9" to rapid fire you could spam an area with 20 3" blasts.) they might prove more versatile for your army. You could also Downgrade the Lascannon Sponsons on the Sicarian to Heavy Bolters or Remove them Altogether if you're strapped for points.
