GrandMagnus
Hi brothers/sisters, Im looking for some good tutorials on making ruined urban bases and adding corpses to the bases. Can you help me? Cheers. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298496-looking-for-tutorial/ Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Have you heard of The Basius product? Version is complete and Version 2 currently has a Kichstarter. Basically is a large negetive mould that you use to create fully moulded bases. They have a huge variety of terrain types. A quick option for Urban ruin is to cut up some of your leftover, unused sprues into small random shapes. They create some pretty good looking rubble. As for corpses, you'll want to smooth the bottom, whether by knife or file, also glue them straight to your base before adding any scenic stuff, and build up rubble/sand/dirt around them. I'll try edit in some pics of what I'm talking about when I have a chance. GrandMagnus
Thanks Jono, I havent heard about the The Basius product but I will sure look it up. When you say smooth the bottom what exactly do you mean? Smoothing the part of the mini in contact with the base I suppose? Grotsmasha
Yeah, exactly, creating a larger contact area with the base, and it also combats the issue of bent legs and arms that just doesn't " look right" when you put models on top of scenery. Durus
Recently found this while looking for city themed basing. It's pretty awesome since you just need some gypsum. If you add a few wires you can model rebars like that too. Been itching to try that out. Looks like a great technique for building terrain as well.
