Camillo
Hello All! I finally managed to have my classic Space Hulk game shipped to my new home after years (decades?) of it languishing in storage. I finally have the time and the inclination to paint the miniatures, but then I made a startling discovery: I have only 15 Genestealers complete. I have all 3 sets of the original game, so I should have about 30 of the little buggers, but I only have the arms for 15 and the bodies for an additional 9. I have all the hybrid pieces, and all the Space Marines, so the set is about 9/10 compete. Are modern purestrain genestealers compatible enough with the older models to make buying them an option? I know the scale has increased to 28mm from 25, but I'm already kit-bashing 4 Second Edition Terminator arms into some old RT era termies, and there isn't much difference. Alternatively, I could use the hybrid arms to make some 2nd generation stealers, and use IG arms as replacements. How handicapped is the Stealer player when he's down 5 minis? Is there enough viability in the mass wave that the game is unplayable without that option? When I played, it never happened, but I was young and stupid (stupid enough to lose pieces and forget about it anyway). Any help would be appreciated. My daughter is interested in playing, and I want the experience to be a good one. Deamon Wolf
the current Genestealer Models have independant arms so it might be posable to fit them to the older stealer models you may need to increase the arm slot size on the original models and then green putty the gaps, the new stealer models look amazing though , i have bought the new stealer models for my 1st ed hulk and they work very nicly with the older models just wish i was better at painting Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298571-classic-space-hulk-difficulty/#findComment-3846480 Share on other sites
Rogue
I used to play Hulk a lot back before all the re-releases, plus a couple of times in 2nd ed. and this week with the latest version. I can't recall ever running out of 'stealer models. 15 should be fine, I reckon. Bear in mind, the missions tend to favour the 'stealers anyway, so being down a few won't hurt the game much anyway. And if you play both ways, it all balances itself out in the end. Have fun! Lucien Eilam
1st/2nd edition Genestealers turn up on eBay all the time, usually very cheaply. The sprues were available separately for years, so there are loads of them about. IIRC the bodies didn't change between the two versions, so the arms are compatible. Veteran Sergeant
I don't think I've ever had more than 15 genestealers on the board at once. That seems like it would be bad news for the Marines, lol.
