Conquest

I'm so torn for this. Yes, it is awesome and I need it, but on the other hand I get more and more frustrated that Prospero is still a long way away and the other legions get so much love.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rules for the Imperial Army, and the additions to the Mechanicus that is supposed to be in this book.

I know that feeling, I was very much looking forward to Prospero, even though I play Night Lords but looking at it from a practical point of view and given what FW have done in the last 8-9 months or so, even if Prospero was being released next month it would still be the best part of a year before any models cropped up. Extermination has barely had the surface scratched with the stuff that needs releasing from there so it would get put well on the back burner.

Looking at the long game, this is almost a perfect book as it gives everyone time to get up to scratch since if you think of Betrayal's stand alone year, a massive chunk of that had to be used for getting the generic Legion units out the door, left a huge backlog.

Look on the brightside the latest cut off for Winter 2014 is December 31st :) and they'd be idiots to miss out on getting available for Christmas. And the guys at FW have proved they're anything but idiots.

Absolutely - as Balthamal says, this is a great stop-gap in the series, and gives ForgeWorld some room to manoeuvre for the next trilogy. Even if the forces in the next three books don't particularly interest me (Prospero and 2x Calth if memory serves me correct from the latest Games Day WarhammerFest tidbits), there's plenty in there that requires a lot of work from both a rules and model perspective. With only Solar Auxilia being new for Conquest, it gives the guys the time to fill out the units / characters from the first trilogy, and to properly flesh out the next trilogy.

And from what I recall, I believe ForgeWorld said that Conquest would be a "End of November" release, which makes sense in my eyes. Plenty of time to get orders in and shipped before the Christmas break.

On a purely personal level, more Sons of Horus is a very good thing - colour me excited tongue.png

I have read in different places that the Sons of Horus, Death Guard, Imperial Fist and Iron Hands will feature. Not sure if that's just the background though. I also read somewhere there will be rules for the shattered legions which would mean multi legion forces and a character creator which would be cool.

Also as it says Winter, does that mean all you Southern Hemisphere folks have to wait 6plus months for it ;)

Really? Cause I havent heard a thing about the RG being involved in this book at all.

I hope I am wrong, and we get something to make up for lackluster releases up to this point.

majority of what i've heard mirrors this:

Horus Heresy Book 4: Conquest

-Ships end of November, so people can order it in time for Christmas.
-It is currently at the printers.
-It is the biggest book so far.
-There is a Forge World Knight on the cover, which gives a bit of an indication as to the book's focus and content.

It covers:

-The Battles of the Cyclops Cluster
-Siege of Mezoa
-Conquest of Manachea
-Defence of Agathon

These are battles that aren't in the Horus Heresy Novels, but is about what Horus and friends did "in between the gaps". It covers the conquest of a significant portion of the Northern Imperium, as Horus takes control of a sector of space cut off from the rest of the Imperium by warp storms so he has a base of operations. For example, Manachea is a big Agri-World, and a bit of a bread basket for that sector of the Imperium.

Forces in the book are:
Sons of Horus
Death Guard
Iron Hands
Salamanders
Imperial Fists
Dark Mechanicum
Mechanicum
Solar Auxilia
Knights
Titans

There was a mention that some of the Loyalist forces have gone mad, others are engaging in revenge attacks to worlds that have allied or even capitulated to Horus, and others are waging a guerrilla war.

The world of Cyclotrathe was mentioned - a Dark Mechanicum world which isn't in the 40K background, because someone has (rightly) turned it to ash by the time 40K happens. This is where some of the worst of the Dark Mechanicum are, licensed by Horus to forge their own mini empire as long as they keep his armies supplied. Their forces are now carving out their own client empire, harvesting humans for their experiments.

There's a mention of the Knight Houses of the area, and their interlinked backgrounds. It covers why their histories and existing allegiances determine the side they end up on. One example given was a House which had only been a part of the Imperium for five years at the outbreak of the Heresy, so sided with the only faction they'd ever met - Horus. (Apparently, that didn't go so well for them!)

The Solar Auxilia are an elite branch of the Imperial Army. There was a Latin name for the Imperial Army, but someone mumbled, so I missed it.

The book will include a history of the battles, background for the Solar Auxilia, background for the Knight Houses, the background to 4 new Knight Houses of the 31st Millenium, a campaign system, a Solar Auxilia list, and a 30K only Knight list.

well, I wouldn't hold out for a giant chunk of stuff like we saw in Extermination. This book will, after all, focus on the (Dark)Mechanicum and the Imperial Army (via Solar Auxilia).

We're more likely to see different RoW's, possible Character Creator and Legion Relics.

Yeah, anything Shattered Legions will affect the Raven Guard whether they're officially in the book or not.

What I'm hoping for is : As stated earlier (or in another Conquest thread) the rules being updated for 7th ed and Errata for the last 3 books that the 2 small ones might've missed.

Beyond that, Legion Relics, Rites of Wars and that Character Builder would be cool but I wouldn't be disappointed if they weren't in the book.

Just getting (dark) Mechanicum, Imperial Army and Shattered Legions Army Lists is good enough for me. The Fluff will be good as per standard with FW stuff, so no worries from me there.

Blasphemy!!

allow me to clarify: In my opinion, for the Raven Guard, the rules as presented as disappointing.
